Nahhh – no root rot here. That looks like one healthy root to me. Sometimes they get “sludgey” I usually just wipe it off

You’ll know if the roots are rotting, they turn black with decay and shrink a bit in width. I’ve only propagated pothos, but usually the roots are a bit darker where they aren’t constantly in the water and are exposed to more air/light. It just looks like that at the base from before you propagated it if that helps (:

If it was rotting, it’d turn brown or black in most cases. It’s just a bit sludgy, so just wipe it off, and you’ll be good. The root looks incredibly healthy
