In this video we share some of our 2025 garden plans and things that we are doing RIGHT NOW to prepare for the season ahead in our permaculture gardens, ideas on how we grow food ALL YEAR round for self-sufficiency and new and exciting projects that are happening THIS YEAR 🙌

We are Dan & Laurie and our land is called Freedom Forest – Its 3 acres in the South of England where we are creating an edible oasis and trying to provide as much for ourselves, from our land as possible, where we are completely off grid.
Our food growing journey began together in 2017 when we created our first No dig lasagne bed. Every year we grow more and more and now we are currently around 60-80% self sufficient in our food needs.
Our style and methods are inspired by permaculture and we try to be thoughtful about how and what we do, to be as gentle on the planet as possible.

We are MASSIVELY grateful that you choose to watch our Videos and support us in this way, however, If you appreciate and get value from what we share and would like to help us a little more, you can become a Freedom Forest Patreon (link below).
In return your name will appear in the end credits of our videos and we’ll message you a password for the ‘members area’ of our website where we share a few more of our favourite recipes exclusively for our Patreon’s 💚

  1. The garden looks great. We're in the process of building our garden kitchen at our 3/4 acre community garden. It's all processed timber with metal sheet roofing. Not what I'd have done but I'm just a volunteer. I hope you're doing a round kitchen with round timber as I would have done. Look forward to seeing your's going up. Meanwhile my own 4x6m not quite finished garden is being neglected, that will change this year, as soon as it's thawed out!

  2. If the Big Lebowski had a little Brit cousin…I think this is her with her chill attitude and fun outfits. But, I don't know, that's just like my opinion man. Anyway, looking forward to your future videos!

  3. Highly recommend primabella cherry tomatoes from real seeds if you can find space for them (edit – saw that they were one of the varieties you were sent, think you’ll love them); very tasty, prolific and disease resistant. Lovely tomato 😊
I’m also planting some lingonberry’s alongside my blueberries and excited to try them; will have to keep a look out for bilberries as hadn’t thought of them! Thanks ☺️

  4. We’re still having arctic weather up here averaging -5c , I can’t even get into my greenhouse to check on my garlic , so hoping they’ll be ok.
Looking fwd to following you along with the off grid outdoor kitchen.

  5. Glad you have stuff still going on. Tbh it’s been colder then usual here- or as long as I’ve lived here, since 21… and it’s in the -3 -5c and days only getting to 2c and yesterday my path didn’t even defrost.
So we are leaving the garden as is and will Lott it when we can, I expect the plants I have in are either dead already and won’t crop or will be late. But they are roots in the ground, so that’s something.

I’m having to concentrate on me sadly atm as struggling so much- I know I will eventually be ok, hate being so stressed and negative lol and it’s a circle I get annoyed at myself.
But I know I need to focus on being safe an warm and bf content with that for now.

    Thanks for the updates.
