I’m looking for an indoor plant to put in my house in this corner which is right next to this west facing window. I live in Australia and this photo was taken around 4pm in summer when the sun comes through at its strongest. Was considering getting a fiddle leaf fig or monstera but am unsure if they will tolerate the sun.

Storm or double glass? Glass cuts out a lot of ultraviolet light, so the more glass layers, the more direct sun interior plants can handle. I would think Ficus lyrata would handle that position either way, as long as it’s not right up, pressing against the glass. On occasion I’ve seen plexiglass used in place of glass, in which case it probably would be too much sun for Ficus lyrata.

What is your experience with plants? I love my Elastica Ruby Ficus and she would love that spot (or focus in general). Those are easy and low maintenance. I love the monstera idea but consider a moss pole or similar to stop it from taking over your whole space. A dragon tree would do well there too. A fiddle leaf fig can be finicky, but that light would do it justice and remove some of the drama. (They get a bad rap, but if you can give them enough light, they are more forgiving) Gorgeous spot. Good luck!
