Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

  2. Hello, I was given this beautiful plant as a gift and it has tremendous sentimental value, the tips of the long leaves are starting to turn brown I’m not sure if I’m over or under watering it, I was told to not water it very much so I try to not go overboard, it gets a little bit of direct sun light through a window about one hour a day but most of the time it’s indirect sunlight near a window.

The last picture shows the browning.

Happy to post more pictures or give more info as needed, any help is deeply appreciated I really want to save this plant!! Thank you

This is a ponytail tree, not a succulent, and I believe it needs more water..

First it’s extremely lacking water , even the caudex which is the brown stalk is dry and the leaves are dying , so what I would do is put water in a pot at room temperature ( fresh from the tap is usually to cold and can shock the roots ) than place the whole pot in the water , until there is no bubbles or anything, take it out and let it drain thoroughly, than I would trim away some of the dead leaves,
