Hi Anna! This was a fantastic video and I’m sure many will benefit from greatly! Beautiful ideas. You must have a creative/ artistic background. I made my garden just over 10 years ago. It is a perimeter garden, but it curves in and out creating little”rooms” within the yard. I have a flagstone path that leads to my patio which is shaded by my neighbor’s tree. This was the area I had most trouble with trying to figure out any designs. This is where I have incorporated the Japanese painted ferns and the foxgloves. I have asthma and can’t handle fragrances(😩)and had put mostly shrubs and trees whose colors would play off one another year round. I love using orange Japanese maples against blue tinged spruces, pines or junipers. Or purples with yellows. One of my most beautiful shrubs is a Diablo ninebark. It has the most gorgeous dark purple leaves, delicate pink flowers and turn a lovely shade in Fall. The ninebark winter interest is stunning too. I love the way their branches arch delicately too. Trying to add some of the pretty purple sages you recommended by my wild geraniums. Or maybe larkspur if I can get it to grow. I just love your garden – I call mine my happy place.
Please continue with these – I never had a garden prior to ten years ago and would be lost without it. ❤️
Perfect inspiration for the new year! Thank you!
Love watching ur videos like this! U give me so many idea's!
this is incredibly helpful thank you!
Awesome!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Good information. My backyard is shaped just like that and I didn’t think of doing a path and plantings like that 20 plus years ago when we moved in. Wish I would have. More interesting.

What a beautiful calm video and full of inspiration. Garden designs are endless and thats what I love so much about the garden space. Everyone could have the same size garden and absolutely come up with unlimited designs. Whether you like certain plants, or your lifestyle, there is a garden for everyone 🫶
As for an out of the box idea ; if the sun is out of reach you need to climb up.
In your case that would be your rooftop ( dormer windows ), a roof garden / raised green house on the slope ?
Or maybe a tree house. ( although that wouldn't do much for gardening )
Love your garden. Do you have tips to grow delphiniums from seed. This is my 2nd year trying with no luck
First design element: Privacy with screening plants
I don’t have a garden (yet!) and came over to this channel from your reiki channel, and watch it often in the background while I crochet. I love the creativity and inspiration in this video, and watching you build/talk about your garden just adds to the coziness of my crochet! In the meantime, I’ll store all of this knowledge for my future garden 🙂
Wish you'd come over an give me ideas for my garden. 🙂
My big problem is battling voles. One day I have a plant and the next day the plant looks short. When I go and look there's a hole under it where the entire root base is gone and the plant has fallen into where the root once was. I have lost nearly all of my hostas, lilies, cabbages, etc. I can see the tunnels in my yard even this winter.
Can you do weekly vlogs? Would love to see how you navigate your lives! xox
Thank you Very much! Your video is very interesting and will help me a lot. Thank you again!❤❤❤❤❤
I have a design problem/challenge and would love to see the way you tackle it. I love the way you think when planning different zones within the garden. I have a 50×45 back yard that has to have 2 parking spaces, a garage/shed, lawn, seating area, and plenty of room for fruit trees/shrubs. There are various other site specific conditions in play.
What would be a good way to get in touch for help with a design?
So nice and good flow, thanks for sharing, would you design or consult my backyard home garden in zone 5a?
Love, love , love this video!
So informative and inspiring. This is usually the time gardeners start planning their garden layouts. Looking through plant catalogs and dreaming. I really want to put more climbing roses in my front garden, but it’s quite shaded. Been searching for roses that can thrive with little sun. Hard to find. But not giving up. 👍 Anyhow, thank you for sharing these ideas.
Some ideas of videos I would like to hear from you would be: What are your favorite shade loving plants? Favorite son loving plants? Favorite low maintenance plants? Also your care routine for your garden? I have a beautiful protege garden with a window greenhouse and I've been trying to get a rose to climb an arch for a while. How do I do that? Also I am really struggling with voles eating my bulbs and roots of my perennials. What can I do about that? Also where do you like to buy your bulbs in your perennials? Can you supply some links? Just some ideas, I love your videos.

Great video – I've been looking for something like this online for ages but just couldn't find it! I would love it if you could share some ideas for a long, thin garden – i.e. the opposite orientation to the one you showed here. Especially thinking a small garden – English mid-terrace, cottage style 🙂 Thank you!
