This video features the incredible walled gardens at Knepp Estate. Head Gardener Charlie Harpur shares information about the amazing ‘rewilded’ garden which features clever ecological design to create an abundance out of rubble, with many transferable skills for growing food, which is also covered in the latter section about the beautiful kitchen garden area. Beautiful brooo
Certainly a place for semi-wild commons…
I still sort of feel like rewilding needs more of an emphasis on restoring local and native blends. I do think we're losing so many natives that many might outright be gone before we take enough action. Still, it's a really interesting experiment and looks fascinating what they are attempting. The beauty of the wild is so much better than a boring lawn!
What is your garden??
This garden is so beautiful. I love the concept of growing lots of different plants for diversity, mixing it all up. My kind of garden, thanks Huw for bringing this lovely garden to us in cold January, it's inspirational ❤
Fascinating! The wisdom of our ancestry shines here as well; the walls, cold frames, glass houses, and the like were simple solutions that worked. That goes for the "weeds" as well. As a novice herbalist, I use many of those plants to heal (I once treated a neighbor for a severe spider bite with a spit poultice of plantain- it drew out the toxin and infection overnight and it healed quickly from there). I also love that you kept the pool for human enjoyment. So many gardeners go headfirst into "rewilding" with no thoughts of balance. We're seeing the repercussions of that mindset here in the US now.
Wonderful episode!! Here at my homestead, we're under 4 feet of snow, with more coming, so this is balm for my soul. BIG HUGS!!
I was going to write on your last video to hurry & post something/anything 😂… As l'm all twitchy & having withdrawal symptoms from gardening 😂… Even hiking isn't helping lol! All frozen here in Scotland… Keep posting for goodness sake will ya, keep us all sane! 😂🤣🙏🙌

Most of the world envies the growing conditions of Britain, with lots of energising, large-leaved, lush greenery. Yet most estates seem to go for the parched Mediterranean look with small-leaved grey and straw-coloured foliage, which only looks alive for about 6 weeks per year. The Blackthorne Trust in Kent (the garden of England) removed their rich soil in one patch, and replaced it with building rubble. Now when you walk past that desperate section it sucks all the life of your veins.
what a glorious garden
Educative and beautiful film. Thanks Huw!
Thanks for the forecast! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
It's a beautiful wild garden but the pool area really doesn't fit in at all. Why not remove it and turn the space into a more natural looking pond for the wildlife to use?
amazing place!
D A M N. What a beautiful garden!. Congratulations to the gardeners!
In keeping with the bio theme of this offering I'm going to suggest a cactus garden. My favorite is in Tucson Arizona, USA. The Sonoran Desert is extremely diverse.
Love it!
such beautiful light!
Wow😊
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you
Question from South Africa.
Rewilded around my house and have had all 3 of SAs most venomous snakes around our house last year. Also the cape cobra in my room!
How do you handle that?
Stunning garden. I like the natural paths and truly mixed variety of plants. This is a better version of what I have been dreaming up.
Well done to the team at Knepp and thanks Huw for sharing another great gem.
Also, I just found out there is a channel too: youtube.com/@kneppflix2180/videos
