I think this was probably the coldest I have ever been out working at the farm, but we got a lot accomplished today and I am super pleased with how the farm is progressing. Spring will be super fun!

  1. MIgardener Pond hockey tournaments. ❤ I can’t wait to see what you do next.
    Yes seed potatoes.

  2. That’s an awesome price. We lost the place we bought good compost from; they retired. We live outside of a small town in North Idaho. And learning from Luke and Billy from Perma Pastor Farms, bagged compost is not the way to go. Started a compost pile and will add to it in the spring.

  3. Now next year you need to get every leaf and bag of leaves you can get for fall soil amendment. You can thank me in 4-5 yrs. You will have great microbial biology and a huge worm population to get the lower part of your soil in amazing shape.

  4. It's amazing to see your farm go from backyard to big acreage. I remember your videos on how to grow vegetables in containers on your deck (that's my farm!) and now look at you. So happy for you

  5. How will you keep water in the pond without any hill for run off water. Plus if the soil isn't right it will never hold 💦 water.❤❤❤

  6. I appreciate frozen ground,I can drive over to the barn to unload animal feed instead of carrying it bag by bag over from the driveway.

  7. That's a cold day, not including wind chill! I had to convert from fahrenheit into celsius to see exactly how cold it is and boy it is cold. At least you had a heater in the car to keep you warm.

11 degrees farhenheit converts into -11 degrees celsius funnily enough. Wind chill making it 6 degrees farhenheit converts to -14 degrees C.

Kinda glad I live in a coastal city in the roaring 40's (southern hemisphere) where it's still fairly warm in winter. 😛

  8. Luuuuuuuuke!!!!! I went into my little greenhouse today with outdoor temp at 20, and my greenhouse was reading 36 degrees!! 😮 😮I am getting PUMPED about seed starting. I printed out my Michigan seed starting calendar and i cannot WAIT!!

  9. One town i lived in you could fill an entire truck bed for 5. As full as you could get it. No dump trucks or trailer though.

And I'm sure you know this. But if you manually pollinate and remove the tassels. You can pretty much eliminate cross pollination problems. As well as if you pick varieties with different mature times. Yeah. You probably don't want to do a lot of varieties. But you could do a few.

  10. Cool! I remember when I bought compost by the bag, then scaled up to the yard, and then scaled up to the truckload to have enough for years. You are at the next level!!!

  11. I'd love to see what you're planting or growing right now. I went out and bought a bag of potting mix to get a fix, I'm done with this weather. I normally get a jump pruning some of the areas of the yard that got away from me in the summer It has been SO bitter here I'm outside for like 5 minutes a day.

  12. A true inspiration. Some day, I hope to have even a portion of your design. Learning all I need to know.😊
