My good friends, mom has had this plant for a very long time. It is very important to her as it was a plant from her father’s funeral. I am in way over my head here and I have no idea how I can save this thing, but I need to try everything I can…

It reminds me of the cursed mermaids from “the little mermaid.”
It’s rotten
I’d buy a new one and pretend it’s the same. It’s a goner, sorry 😢
I don’t think you can do anything about it. I’m really sorry
May peace be with you
Rest in peace lily
What’re they selling??? CHAWCLATE???!

Oh no 😥 I don’t think this baby is coming back
Plants die from old age just like people do. Get a new one and say goodbye to old planty.
Don’t give up. I had the SAME thing happen with one just about the same age. After some research, I ultimately gave it a spray with a 1:4 hydrogen peroxide:water solution and suspended it in water. After changing water and an additional spray down once a week or if the water gets cloudy, after about 3-4 weeks later the leaves got healthier and the root system is coming back. It’s almost ready for soil.
Best of luck. Give it a little pep talk too 😉
Waited way too long to be able to do anything for this. Sorry but you’d have to study necromancy to get this plant back alive.
Thanks for all the helpful advice and kind words. I know it maybe a little silly for some of you. But this plant was the last thing she had left from her father that died unexpectedly. This is very hard and sad of the owner. Have some compassion please
When I looked at the pics, my only thought was “where is the peace lily??” Sorry to say, but there isn’t really anything left to salvage.
I did some digging about how Spathphyllum plants are grown commercially. Why? Because the plant that she had may have been a rooted cutting of a mother plant. So, while the cutting that she had may have died, the plant lives on in other cuttings made from the same plant. There are some Spathiphyllums that are grown from seed, however. Those plants would be kind of like siblings or cousins of the one that she had. It’s all about the circle of life.
I’m not trying to be inconsiderate at all. I lost my dad a year and a half ago. Is this the entire plant? Is there potentially a missing photo?
The piece shown is rotten, unfortunately, and dead. It cannot be saved. There are no roots to uptake nutrients, and no leaves to photosynthesize.
Was it in a larger pot? Have you checked to see if there are rhizomes still in the pot?
