Hi everyone, please help a newbie get rid of these bad boys before it's too late, they're driving me insane.
Here it is what happened:
– Construction workers took off my old perfect lawn in order to renew underground sewerage and electrical system.
– Construction workers took earth/soil from god knows where in order to cover the holes.
– My "gardener" planted new seeds in spring and a lot of weeds came out of nowhere.
– I thought it was his mistake so I used the herbicide and basically burnt everything. At this point some of them grew for like half a meter tall but I eradicated them.
– Fast forward, I proceeded to sow the lawn by myself in late October 2024.
– Lawn is growing but there are still a lot of these fuckers of weeds that you can see in the pictures.
What can I do? I really thank everyone that will help, I already tried to hand-pick them but I just feel I'm wasting so much time and effort for nothing. Is there a way to selectively wither them?

If you’re asking for help with identifying a weed and/or type of grass, please include close-up photos showing as much detail as possible.
For grasses, it is especially important to get close photos from multiple angles. It is rarely possible to identify a grass from more than 5 feet away. In order to get accurate identifications, the more features of the grass you show the more likely you are to get an accurate identification. Features such as, [ligules](https://extension.illinois.edu/sites/default/files/styles/image_gallery_mobile/public/2024-03/180.png.jpg?itok=D5yNs0l8) (which can be hairy, absent entirely, or membranous (papery) like the photo), [auricles](https://extension.illinois.edu/sites/default/files/styles/image_gallery_mobile/public/2024-03/Grasses%20at%20a%20Glance%20Blog%20Pictures.png.jpg?itok=PLrWX4q-), any hairs present, roots, and stems. General location can also be helpful.
OP, please respond to this comment with any additional pictures if needed.

Scufflehoe it
Lay a black tarp over the area and wait around a week or so, they should all be dead. Then rake the area and remove the plant material.
Edit; re seed the raked area with a reputable seed product.
Why the shade on your gardener, looks like you nuked their work and are now complaining about it like it’s their fault
Bare dirt will always have weeds show up in it. The soil is filled with weed seeds just waiting for the right conditions (light, etc.)
If you don’t want to weed the weeds out of grass seed, buy sod. Green side up.
You could get better quality soil to replace the current medium.
Its a PITA, but I pull whatever doesn’t look like grass by hand. I let whatever can grow during the week grow because it gives me more purchase to pull from.
And if its something that has a root ball that shoots up another tuber, I still pull it; eventually it will run out of the energy to shoot up new roots.
no need for chemicals, no particular guard against new attacks by spores either, but aside from your labor, it is free.
