Shigeru Miyamoto may have become Nintendo’s superstar developer, but his career with the company very nearly ended before it began. An unfocused student with any real idea of what he wanted to do with his life, Miyamoto applied to Nintendo in the hopes of becoming an artist or a toymaker, only to learn that actually, the company didn’t need any artists, or indeed any new employees that lacked engineering experience.
Nintendo was in a period of transition, and its president, Hiroshi Yamauchi, was struggling to find a direction for the company. Early successes in the precursor to arcades, as well as the popular Game & Watch series of handheld games, had led Yamauchi to bet the company’s future on electronic entertainment.
When Shigeru Miyamoto was initially rejected by a Nintendo recruiter, a friend of the family said that he might be able to get him an interview anyway. Miyamoto found himself face-to-face with Yamauchi himself, in an interview that changed his life forever.

Funny thing is that without Miyamoto, Nintendo wouldn't be relevant OR be the Gaming Giant that they are today.
bro he is so important now
Nepotism lol
The moral of the story: Be cautious, but not outright dismissive of change…
Cause he's a problematic, two-face type
Could you please share your sources on the early history of Nintendo (hanafuda, noodles, love hotels)? I was researching this topic, but couldn't find much concrete information, especially with actual numbers.
A return to form for content from VGST
you make the love hotels sound like wh0re houses. in a culture where a couple would all share a modest home with their elderly parents, their children, love hotels were often used as the only means for a husband and wife to be intimate.
Nintendo = Miyamoto
The early history of nintendo is… Icky to put it lightly.
And the more I hear about Miyamoto in this video, the less I like him. A bit of the same sentiment goes to Yamauchi. Iwata was the guy that deserved respect in the middle of all this, and without him Nintendo was weird before, and is again weird after his passing.
Moral of The Story: The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Fun Fact: the reason Donkey Kong was made is because Radar Scope was a failure. Meaning Nintendo needed him as an artist for a couple of games, before he become a surprisingly good director thanks to DK.

(this is actually brilliant considering I watched this section 5 times just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating)
Anyone can make games. But at the beginning of tech, it matters if you knew someone. And then be inventive at the opportune task of enjoyment.
I can't believe nepotism saved the day for once.
Moral of the story: Networking is vital to landing the job you want.
Miyamoto would prolly let the knockoffs of video games like Palworld to go around the internet so it makes sense why Miyamoto wasn’t hired. Oh, and let Iwata burn in hell 😂😂😂😂😂
I love this man and Nintendo needs ro forever grateful for this legend and don't screw/betray him
Nintendo ended up being a toxic influence on the man. He made them great, but that power really went to his head.
woahh
Why does this channel keep talking about irrelevent stuff? Why don't you guys talk about why it took so long for Tomb Raider to come to Nintendo platforms? Or Why hasn't Castlevania: Symphony of the Night come to Nintendo Switch yet? Or why it toook so long for the Yakuza games to come to Nintendo platforms(especially in the west)? Come on, go back to talking about stuff like what I just mentioned; not this PAL World or why Shigeru this, or Iwata that, or quality this, or sue that! Go back to talking about what I brought up in the former instead!
