Hi everyone,
my landlord left me this 15 year old monstera plant to take care of. I water it once a week, but I still have the impression that the stems and leaves continue to droop and that I may be doing something wrong. What is the best way to deal with the plant? How much water is optimal and do I need to fertilize the plant? I've also thought about a new pot, but I'm afraid to move the plant as it’s quite fragile. The monstera sits in our living room and gets decent amount of light.

It needs as much light as possible. Water thoroughly enough for it to saturate all the soil and drain out of the bottom, but don’t let the excess sit. Wait until the soil dries completely to water again.
If you repot it, only go up a couple inches in width and mix some extra pumice and bark or coco chunks into the soil.
they’re not nearly as fragile as they look… looks underwatered, but could also be overwatered.
if you stick your finger down into the soil and it’s bone dry, give it a good shower and it’ll perk right back up… if it’s wet and isn’t able to use the moisture in the soil fast enough it will begin to rot. in this case you’ll want to dry out the soil as quickly as possible, potentially repot.
these things can drink a ton during the hotter summer months but watering weekly in the colder months may be too much.
You should be placing this plant close to the window. They need sunlight to photosynthesis. Also it’s either underwatered or over watered.
Tips on watering this plant: Don’t water on schedule. Only water when the soil is bone dry. Stick your finger on the soil like 3-4inches or more. If it is dry, then it’s time to give her water. You don’t give her a cup of water, you need to give her a full bath! Basically you drown her and wet ALL the soil. Make sure your pot has a good draining, as excess water needs to get out.
Check out ‘kill this plant’ on YouTube. He has several very helpful videos on Monstera care.
Honestly, if I were you, I’d cut it up and propagate it 🙃 girl looks like she can use a refresh
It really needs something to climb on
