In this video I talk about some exciting updates and what led me to stop posting videos on my other channel Next Level Gardening.

  1. I long for the days when people posted videos because they loved what they were doing & wanted to show people, not to make $.

  2. I don't know exactly how this ties into an algorithm but I do like videos where you walk up to the stuff that you have planted and go hey look this is what I see today. I'm talking about next level gardening, and it is just the way the listeners see life in their garden.

  3. Interesting observations, I've worked at my channel for a few years, and honestly came to the party late, but also not understanding how it all worked. Yet, as I make a decision to "stay or go", the one thing my husband asked is "Do you enjoy what you share?" Yes!! But, there will come a point where I will make a decision to answer the question "Is it worth it?" because, as you know, it takes work to create video's, from recording, editing, etc.

Making decisions that nurture your own needs is important. Be true to who you are, share what you love, and enjoy the journey.

  4. Not to be disrespectful but I laughed watching you talk about this because I can so relate!! I wanted to do gardening, animals, and nature (I I have several dogs and cats and chickens) and the algorithm wouldn't have it. You talk about growing slow! Mine has been 2 or 3 years at less than a snail pace. The algorithm is brutal! Out of everything I posted, it has now dubbed me the chicken channel. Not educational, just funny stories and commentary. My chickens are all characters! That is not what I thought my channel would be although I love what I do. More power to you and I am so glad you are doing what YOU want to do!

  5. Ha ! Growing up, had a great pirenese mixed with an Alsatian. He did NOT respect boundaries one bit!! Scaled large walls, squeezed through fences, broke into houses, caused major chaos ! He was awesome !!

  6. First time watching. I don't know much about YT, but maybe stockpile some shorts or little educational messages. Some people seem to only post consistently 1 or 2 days a week. Burnout is real in all things. My 2 acre yard alone, burns me out, its constant work. I use all battery tools, including push mower, so for this old lady, I look forward to a few winter months, but then there are the leaves, gah…😊 OH yes, any foid preservation or cooking is always welcome. Where you buy seeds, varieties you like, etc. I think more and more folks will be gardening, homesteading more in the coming years.

  7. I’m with you on both channels Brian! I started in the early days of NLG and even though due to my move gardening is nearly nonexistent I still love NLG.

I absolutely LOVE when Emilie appears (and still love Noah’s brief appearance). I hope Emilie can make appearances with cooking and possibly crafts if she’s into them.

May the coming year be filled with health, happiness and prosperity for you and your sweet family. As always I send love and hugs to you, Emilie and Noah ❤🤗

  8. I really enjoy and relate to many things you do– and love your channels. Years ago I was a "homesteader", 4 acres , garden, animals. Now I garden and experience burn out in August. I hope don't get lost in your changes .😅

  9. Love both of your channels! I learned so much from you in Next Level Gardening. I am very appreciative! I enjoy this one for the reasons you stated in the video. Happy New Year! You are doing great!

  10. I'm always happy to pick up growing tips, but mostly I watch channels like this for the lifestyle. I grew up on a farm and miss it. I miss the space, the quiet, the animals. We had very little money, but my well heeled city cousins thought visiting the farm was the best treat they could have, and they were right. Currently replanting trees after a Colorado wildfire, and battling mullein and thistle that sprang up after the trees died. It's farming but not really.

  11. Idk why people unsubscribed! At times almost everyone I watch on YouTube uploads a video I’m not really interested in at least at that moment. I move on to the next video and catch their next video. Why unsubscribe when you like the creator and most of their content?!? Some of your videos have helped me the most! So if you’re on a topic I don’t have interest in then I wait for the next. Sometimes, later on I realize I do want to see that missed video and go back to it! People are weird! 😂

  12. This year we're gonna have fun! Yes show more Emily! Yes show more of whatever "the algorithm hasn't figured out is Good Stuff"! Happy new Year!

  13. I like to think of myself as a homestead, I have a garden, small orchard and chickens on a couple acres. I do a LOT of canning and preserving and cooking/ baking from scratch. I would probly have more animals if I wasn't working 50+ hours a week with my job. So I live vicariously through you.

  14. I understand it must be difficult to deal with corporate. BUT, some of us ARE homesteaders and homeschoolers and are still trying to get caught up from this years harvest season, while struggling with our external job. It’s disappointing, the lack of content over holidays, less support while we get our work done. Turning more to music and audiobooks. Life is hard, and we have to push through. Keep working hard please, some of us have to, wimping out is not an option on a real farm.

  15. Love these ideas for the channels – looking forward to seeing everything!!! Can't wait to see Emily in the kitchen!!!

  16. I feel like the other channel is to teach new gardeners. I love watching you but have left many times before the end of the video just because I'm not a beginner. I just like watching the process without all the detail, because I live, breathe, and eat gardening.

  17. Keep doing what you're doing Brian. I love the content here even though I've been gardening for over 50 years. I really enjoy watching your projects come along and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who takes forever to get certain things done. Wish I had the room for a Bella, but at 1/2 an acre I just don't think it's feasible. Happy New Year!

  18. Not a homesteader, however enjoy watching both channels. My son and I gardened on his balcony-both of us apartment dwellers. Got an abundance of tomatoes, cukes and beans. Your information has been invaluable!

  19. Really looking forward to the new adventures. Yes PLEASE, more Emily in the kitchen!! Side segment, would be great!

  20. I miss the gardening info you had on the old channel. Seems like everyone gets the dream property they want and forgets the basics that made their channel popular

  21. I quit watching you because I prefer when the video shows me something not just sitting telling me something. Also, teach me something I don't know and avoid these advertisement/commercial style videos.

  22. Man ive been watching you since we were laid off for covid. I had squash bugs and was getting pissed about my squash plants and that's how I started u were very first time I watched you tube. Lol I've garden with my parents when lived at home and never had that issue at mom's. Then watched your tomato videos and my tomatoes number have grown each year. And I still up pot my tomaotes in red solo cups because of you. Lol thanks for sharing and hate to see you go. You made it so far and moving into your dream place I wish you the best!!

  23. Hate that these YT algorithms are so challenging …ive enjoyed you all and I do just watch certian ones to keep up with them. Lol so am so glad your stocking with it.
