✶ I’m LK, and this channel is all about sharing my process of affordably transforming ANY space into a home that feels refined, timeless and functional. I love modern interior design principles, quality secondhand decor pieces, DIY (when necessary), and my garden! Currently, I’m renting a 1929 Spanish Revival home with a HUGE backyard, so I’m also sharing what I learn outside the home as I makeover the outdoor spaces and landscape with edible gardens!

I don't usually comment, but I love your content in general. Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you should go with more humor. Being genuine and real is just being yourself. You clearly do that. Two of my favorite content crreators that are along your lines are @LaughCryDIY and @KathleenIllustrated. I've learned a lot from you, but humor and reality are super fun. ALSO – You've mentioned in several videos how much you like your house. Have you considered talking to your landlord about purchasing it?
The house I own, I 1st rented when I relocated back to this area, Florida. It's a 1945 craftsman with a lot of original features.
I rented this to get established in the area and look for a house to buy. After 7-8 months, couldn't find a house I liked and it finally occurred to me, it's because I like the house I'm renting. I talked to my landlord about purchasing it, he didn't have it listed for sale. After a few months of negotiations he agreed to sell it to me. Not only sell it to me, but with owner financing, as I didn't qualify for a traditional mortgage at that time.
It was in 2010 and in our area there was an incentive for 1st time homebuyers and I qualified. The qualified funds of $8000.00 was used for my down payment. The papers were legally drawn up and filed with the county court house.
Because it was owner financing it was more than a traditional loan, interest at 12% for a 30 year mortgage. Part of the agreement – I would obtain an actual Bank Mortgage within 5 years and pay off the owner. I was not able to qualify at the 5 year mark, but did qualify after 6 years. I was able to do a ReFinance from a 30 year mortgage down to a 15 year mortgage and from 12% down to 3.2%. I was very fortunate to be in the right place and time to make all this come together. Just sharing with you in case it's something you may want to think about for your house. Be happy to answer any questions.

LK! I so loved seeing this side of you. I’m a new subscriber and I found you through your room makeover videos while I was trying to get inspiration to see what kinds of styles I liked. I loved your style, so I definitely had to subscribe. Now getting to hear from you and hearing what makes you motivated has definitely given me motivation to get things done to make my house a home as well! I grew up going to thrift stores w my mom, but have gotten sucked into the online shopping that’s so prevalent in our everyday lives. Lots of mismatched obviously-first-apartment furniture from Amazon. But now, while watching you, I want to make it a mission this year to love where I live, even if it is just an apartment where you can’t make big changes in your space.
