Bunny talks about getting rid of moss on Breedon Gravel (a bound gravel that works well for wheel chairs, high heels and bikes). In the recent years with deluges of rain moss has become more of a problem, unless of course, you like a mossy path. On small sized, loose, gravel areas, plants self seed in and Bunny thins out the more invasive plants such as Helleborus x sternii, Euphorbia myrsinites and encourages the slower spreading Nerines, Erodiums, Stipa.
On the larger gravel on drives Bunny keeps an eye out for useful plants that self seed in and then replants them in her hording boarders to plant out in the garden once they obtain a reasonable size. Hollies and evergreen oak are regular colonisers.

What about spraying with solution of vinegar and water.
Bunny – Please adjust the audio levels before you render the upload file. The levels should be as close to -2db as possible without going higher. Yours are at -15db which means the video is a LOT quieter than normal. You can see the actual average db value by right-clicking any YT video and selecting "Stats for Nerds".
Have you tried flame to get rid of the moss? I’m thinking of trying one of those propane fueled burner things on small weeds and moss in my gravel paths.
Gotta lot of scrappy gravel here in the soggy Pacific Northwest.
For spot weed killing in gravel boiling water works a treat…
Love raking a Zen practise… thanks for rhis Bunny.
I’m laying down my first gravel pathways this spring and I’m finding so much conflicting information on how to do it right to make it last. A main one in whether or not to put down a weed suppressing fabric – do yours have it, Bunny?
I’m planning to do 3 inches road base on bottom, 2-3 inches compacted decomposed granite, and then 2 inches of pea gravel on top.
I’m a gravel path fan. We spray our Lilydale toppings path with chemical every year. It gets full of weeds and moss and we found that this is the only way to keep it looking nice.
These observations are always helpful, thanks so much!
I will invest in a rake but never use chemicals- we should all be moving on from those now for obvious reasons
Bunny is a gem! Thanks so much!
Bunny you are the doyenne of detail and so generous with your pragmatism and knowledge, thankyou.
I know it would no doubt cause more controversy than you would wish to take on but would you consider/have you shared your thoughts on weeding methods. We all understand the problems with chemicals, dont like using them and i imagine feel guilty when it is used…would you be up for aharing your thoughts?!

There are so many different scenarios I know! Any thoughts would be great! X
75% vinegar works for my gravel paths. However, I never over spray in the beds. Plus, raking, does the trick.
