Backyard makeover update!

I can hardly contain my excitement about the results I’m seeing with my new lawn coming in from seed so I thought I’d share a progress update.

My fiancée and I moved into this home in SoCal (Orange County) about 9 months ago. The backyard had an old in-ground hot tub that had been covered up for years by the previous owners. We demoed the tub and the surrounding concrete pad to make room for some grass.

Here are some before and after photos. The last one showing the grass is just 2 weeks post-seeding! I don’t have an experience with lawns myself (first time homeowner) but I did not expect these results so quickly. Part of me didn’t think it was going to work well at all given that I’m doing this in December but I thought I’d give it a shot before springing for sod.

It is Marathon II seed and I’ve been watering twice a day for the 2 weeks. Let me know what you think!
