I have 4 plants I bought from Walmart here. I don’t remember which ones, but 3 of them said they require low light and sunlight, and 1 said requires medium light but indirect sunlight. Are these too far away from any window to be successful at all? I’ve had them around a week now and have watered them every other day

No, it really isn’t, but your setup is pretty and you could fix that by buying grow lights. There are easy to install, reasonably cheap solutions on Amazon.

I’m no expert but I’d say move them all beside the window se they can get more light. Tolerating low light doesn’t mean they like it and their growth will be slower. Deep them in a bowl full of water for 15-20 min every 10 days so they can get as much water as they want and that way you can avoid problems with over or underwatering. Be careful though that their pots have drainage holes so you can avoid root rot. Let them drain after all the excess water. If they don’t have drainage holes buy new pots and repot. Hope these helps, feel free to ask any questions 🌿

Yep they’re really far from the window, and at that rate you’re watering them too much. I’d put them next to your sliding door or put grow lights

Reduce watering, every other day will drown them, especially for the 3 tropical ones. You’ll want to feel the soil and make sure it’s completely dry before watering again. Depending on the humidity/temp in your home, that could be weekly or every other week or even longer. Have fun!!!!

Unfortunately not. It is a very pretty setup, but it seems too dark in the pictures.

In order from the second picture it looks like a chinese evergreen, (golden?) Pothos, bromeliad, and peacock plant. They all should need at least bright indirect light. You could do maybe two small grow lights, one on the peacock plant up top, the other at the top/side of the pothos.

Just keep in mind the plants will grow in the direction of the light, so you may want to rotate the pots 90° every couple weeks to prevent the top plants from casting too much shade on the ones below them.

That’s a nice looking setup, but definitely needs more light! You have a few options in that regard:

    1. Get a multi-bulb floor light or fixture that sits next to the plant stand. Get some LED plant bulbs from Sansi (probably 10-15 watts but that’s just a guess) and aim them so that each plant has some light on its leaves and none are sitting in shade.
    2. Get some clip-on lights on adjustable arms (maybe 2 lights, 4 arms total?) and again aim them so each plant has coverage.
    3. Get one smaller light per plant. You can get ones on a telescoping stand that sit in the pot.
    4. Some combo of the above.

The key thing is that all the plants need to have light hitting them directly. What looks bright to our eyes is quite dark to a plant. Past that, it’s really up to your aesthetics.

Run them 8-12 hours per day. Watch how the plants respond. If they get leggy or the leaves start dying, the light is too low. If they turn yellowish or get burn spots where the light hits them, then it’s too close. If the plant looks happy and is growing, you’ve got it right.

Also, watering every other day is far too often and will lead to root rot. Read this for how to water: [https://www.gardenmyths.com/watering-indoor-plants/](https://www.gardenmyths.com/watering-indoor-plants/) . If you’re unsure, err on the dry side for most plants.

This is essentially no light, you need to be able to at least see the light hitting the plants. Agreed you need a few growlights if you plan to keep the plants this far removed from the window!

There are so many factors….. What direction is that window? What plants are there? Where do u live? It’s like a journey and u will figure out what’s best alone the way don’t feel bad if plants die and take your time….. That’s the best advice I can give oh and also don’t worry about schedules learn your plants and water when u feel they need it not because it seems like it should be weekly etc like feel them observe them you’ll learn…. Good luck

Nope! Best rule of thumb is for your plants to do really well, you want them to see as much sky as possible. Your plants are seeing little to no sky or light in that area.

If you really want to master light, buy yourself a light meter from amazon that measures Foot Candles. I got mine for less than $20. Then you can google how many foot candles of light each plant needs and use the meter to find a proper location for them. Odds are, they need way more light than you think!

You could also get some grow lights. You can use the light meter in a similar way to make sure your plants are getting enough light from the grow lights.
IMO plants always do better with natural light though! So if you want them to thrive give them as much natural light as possible

    I use Sansi lights http://www.sansiled.com

Watering every other day is way too much. The one in the 3rd pic is a pothos and I water mine every couple of weeks
