Why do I get these tire tracks with missing strips of grass after my Gardner mows the lawn? I have to physically try to pull the grass back in place to try to keep the lawn looking good. Is he doing something wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Am I being too picky after joining r/lawncare ?

Mow in different directions, or make yourself a wider tire track

It looks like the guy isn’t being careful. Probably does a zero degree turn and doesn’t make sure the back wheels are all the way disengaged.

Easy to do if you’re not being careful/don’t think the owner will care

Say that you don’t appreciate the grass being torn up and would like him to alternate mowing patterns.

How much do you water your lawn? Is the ground soft?

Don’t water on days that he mows, easy as that. You don’t need to water every day.

Edit: just noticed the moss along the edge and the patch of poa… Watering too frequently is definitely the issue.

I can see that spot is wet and the muddy water dried on the grass blades, it looks light brown. I would say your guy isn’t negligent. Keep your lawn fed and re seed any bare spots.

Zero turn with tiny tires. Grass gets compressed. It’ll normally stand back up on its own within a few hours.

Nothing much can be done, dude just needs wider tires. Went from 8.5in to 10in tires on my zero turn and had a lot less problems with this. Wish I could fit 11s or 12s but my 10s already rub a little.

Any mower with wheels makes tracks. Use a roller mower if you don’t want them

Check the mower to see if it has tires on it. /s

I had the issue when I got my new commercial mower that Honda is super super heavy had to cut back on watering the lawn the ground was the problem

Tell him to switch up the tracks, he’s making a rut and compacting the soil on those tire lines, which grass roots do not like.

He’s going to have to do an extra half line every once in awhile 🤷
