Hi r/lawncare
I live in Western Australia and have just recently moved into a new house with Wintergreen Couch lawn.
The grass has not been mowed in a while and has sprouted a bunch of these tall reed like things. Is this a weed or is it just the grass not being mowed for a while?

No, seed heads, just mow your lawn more often, like way more often.
That is couch grass seed, nothing to worry about, your lawn is going to seed, you can mow regularly if you don’t want to see them, not a weed unless you don’t want couch
