About a month or two after repotting, a lot of the leaves on my monstera adansonii have started to yellow and fall off at an alarming rate. I repotted with a potting soil mix, perlite, and orchid bark mix. I’ve noticed that the roots are growing fast and it is still putting out new leaves, so maybe this is a natural cycle? I’ve moved it further away from the grow lights and have started to water it more frequently if that helps.

how long has it been since repotting? i’d be concerned about over watering. it’s natural for leaves to drop from transplant stress and the winter season if you’re in the northern hemisphere, but this is kind of an alarming amount

When you repot into more soil you should water less frequently as all the extra soil takes way longer to dry especially if you take away the light

Monstera’s love root crowding. I would not repot to a pot larger than 2” more. When the pot is too big the plant will be working on spreading its roots. If the pot is snug the monstera will then work in its leaves. Remove all the yellow leaves, less water (let her dry out) and give her some indirect bright light and she may snap out of it.

  5. Take the plant out and check the roots, my guess is it is severely root rotted at this point. It was probably recovering from the repotting, but then you restricted light, which gives the plant less energy and a longer time for the soil to dry. And during these time of transplant shock and change of environment, you’re giving it more water which it cant keep up with, and its probably drowning from it and rotting.
