I received the pictured lithops yesterday as a gift. They were purchased about two weeks ago and have been lying on a bed of rocks since then, not planted. I have a lot of experience with succulents but am brand new to lithops, but I’ve been reading here to try to catch up.
It seems to me that some of them might be starting to split—probably 1, 2, and 3? Maybe also 6, 8, and 9, or maybe this is just how they look?
Does it look to you all like they’re splitting? If so, does that mean that I shouldn’t water them at all after planting them? Or does the advice about not watering when they’re splitting not apply when they’re first planted?
Are the others okay to plant together and water when first planting?
Any other advice based on how they look here would also be much appreciated!

#3 is the only one that might be splitting. the others are types that have a deeper cleft or rounder lobes, which can be misleading.
anyway, plants with no roots need to make them or they’ll die. plant them all in gritty soil (90% inorganic is good), and water them lightly after a few days. then, a week after that, totally soak them all. that two-step approach seems best for encouraging root growth, and thence rehydration.
