Im not sure what type of plant it is but in the last few years it has seriously declined in health. Until a few weeks ago it was underwatered in a pot that was considerably undersized that we learned had two earthworms living in it. Since then we untangled the root ball, repotted and started it on a better watering plan and it seemed to stay about the same before we went away for a week and it started to decline. It gets a medium level of light. Any advice would be amazing.

This is a peace lily. The etiolated petioles show that it has been getting quite low light. I’d move it to a brighter spot. Just keep them from hot, midday, direct, summer sun.

Does this pot have drainage? That’s paramount. Never let plants sit indefinitely in their excess water. Let the excess water drain.

Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.

Trim off the most damaged leaves with sterile scissors.

Yes, I would say trim off the dead leafs and if the pot doesn’t have drainage holes get it into one soon. My one loves a bright spot out of indirect sun. I have mine in a much smaller pot too which it seems to like. I would really prefer this plant in a brighter spot. Good luck.
