this is a new leaf and these weren't there yesterday! ive never seen this on any other plants in my home either. they look like bugs but they dont move.

Watering habits are good, i always make sure to wait till the top inch of soil is dry before watering more!

This plant gets like half light?? i dont know how to like explain it but its not fully direct, however the room i keep it in is always very bright throughout the day.

besides these weird things the plant seems to be thriving!

Mealies… time to quarantine and start treatments!

  2. I believe those are mealy bugs. You’re definitely going to want to isolate this plant from any others, and you’re gonna want to get rid of the infestation ASAP, as they’ll ruin the plant.

Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol will kill them, but I’ve never had more than a few, so unsure if there are better ways to get rid of them.

Bugs! Mealy¡ bugs to be specific

I second the first commenter, isolate and look up ways to treat (not dealt with them myself)

Mealy bugs! Quarantine it from other plants and spray down with water then do a mixture of neem and alcohol and spray all over. Also maybe repot into new pot and new soil.

The great thing about dealing with mealy bugs is that you can squash them with your bare hands and cackle maniacally as you do. Just make sure to wash away the carnage and make sure any eggs are squashed too.

If you can get your hands on a solution of *deltamethrin* , try it!

I’ve saved every plant that had the unfortune of having mealybugs. Kill and clean them as much as you can with alcohol soaked q-tips and cotton pads. Make sure to cover the insides of any newly unfurling leaves, deep crevices etc. Then spray with the solution thoroughly. 100% solution.
