i will rant and ramble so i'm gonna put all the info in a list
– i was gifted this monstera for my birthday in November. it wasn't necessarily a pillar of health but it definitely looked like a good enough plant to give as a gift yk.
– i transferred it a week or two after. I was gifted a large pot to grow it in, but i chose to pot it in a smaller one until it got bigger…
– i live in Florida and it has recently gotten colder, lowest being 34ish degrees, but i have kept it inside where the lowest it gets is around 65 degrees (Fahrenheit).
– i get a lot of natural light in my apartment, i can set it up to have any ratio of light needed
– i have not used water conditioner or anything until this point but it will be here tomorrow and i intend to use it !!! to see if chlorine levels are high in my tap water
– i do intend on pruning it bc it clearly needs it (i have been scared) and i have learned about the importance of pruning regularly + doing the roots too
So, essentially i just would love some tips going forward or feedback on what i've done so far. I have a lot of other plants and this is my first new one in a really long time,
and it's also my first monstera so i have a lot to learn. my job gets busy during the holidays so i haven't had any time to commit to it since i got it, but now that i will have time, i'm looking for anything i can do to make sure shes thriving asap !! thanks in advance 🖤

It’s almost always either over watering or under watering in my experience
That’s looks like a lot of stems for 1 pot, and the soil looks packed. I’d repot in a nice chunky soil and separate it into a few pots.
My arrowhead plant did something similar when it was over crowded.
Also monstera typical climb, if you’re not gonna climb, be sure to prune or it will prune itself through killing off leaves.
ETA: I live in central FL (just saw your text in the post) Once you get the hang of it they can propogate like crazy.
I have now like 6 monstera plants from the cuttings, 5 outside 1 inside. They need indirect light, i keep it about 6 feet away from window. If you want big leaves make sure you prune often. I use bios nutrients all year long for fertilizer. I really don’t fuss with them, just water when the soil is 1-2 dry. If you want big leaves use a moss pole and small pot so it can put all the energy into leaves.
