Hey folks,

First time (soon-to-be) greenhouse owner. I want to buy this greenhouse for my wife. Kinda big and never built one before, gonna have some friends help me.

What should I make sure to do or plan for?

Any tips, suggestions, or alternatives?

I was thinking gravel base.

Thank you!

  1. Goodness. A same size hoop house would cost $500 that size and be better insulated. If looks are that important I still wouldn’t buy from Home Depot. Look at Atlas or another supplier. Hoop house found on Facebook marketplace, go up in a few hours.

If it were my money I’d at least get something double wall poly walls too. It’s nice that the big box stores carry accessories from the brand you linked, but there are other big brands too.

    I just built this. 16×48

~$6k all said and done with options and a gravel pad. (Roll up sides, polycarbonate sliding doors, metal end walls, mechanical ventilation, inflated roof. It’s built for New England winters and is way more rugged than the HD kits. I run a vegetable farm so it’s all for utility, but I do think the gothic shape of the house is aesthetically pleasing.
