I water it every 2-3 weeks but don’t overdo it. One day it turned like this after it had been a bit dehydrated for too long. I’m also keeping it in a fairly cold room, could that be an issue? Pls tell me how to revive it! It gets sunlight but indirect

It’s gone. Best guess is your watering schedule. You water a plant when needed, not on a schedule. This is same plant and what it should look like. I would google and check for lowest acceptable temp to see if room is too cold. My plant gets morning sun and then a grow light rest of day. You should be watering when top half is dry. Use a finger to check. Water until it comes out the drain hole. Wait a few and water again. Dump the water runoff.

  2. Likely due to underwatering. Calatheas like to stay a little most. The cold may have made it worso too. Calatheas ate notoriously difficult so don’t beat yourself up over it.

I can’t quite tell but it looks like there may be some webs on some of the leaves, maybe check for spider mites? That’s my first recommendation.

Tons of potential reasons why it looks the way it does.

I’ve written a post about Calathea and Maranta over on my instagram page, but I’m not going to retype everything plus all the questions and answers in the comment section. There’s a link to my instagram page on my reddit bio.

Just send me a message over there and I’ll send you my posts about these plants.

If anyone here just spits out “_______ is why your plant looks that way.” ….they have no idea what’s wrong with it.

There ought to be at least 5 major questions asked, with another 5-10 asked after your reply to the first 5.

You’ll know why when you read the posts I’m going to send.

It looks like it needed more water. Not trying to be an ass, but are people still not checking their soil to determine when they NEED to water? There is no set schedule for watering any plant. If it doesn’t need it, don’t water it, if it does need it, then water it. I feel like there should have been signs it was unhappy before it got to this point. Also, as another comment said, it really does look like you have a decent amount of webs. Could definitely be a spider mite issue, which are horrid to get rid of if they get bad enough.

So so sorry watch them grow and they look good. Looks like it was a pretty good looking plant and then all of a sudden kaboom bummer. Bummer. Bummer. I’m just starting and I’m liking it but hope I never see this.

You’re treating it like a succulent when it needs a lot of moisture and frequent watering.
