Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

I have had great success with nematodes bought on Amazon. Look for fungus gnat nematodes. Never tried them with succulents but though. You add them to the water then water throughly.

  3. I made a very similar setup with mostly succulents and Barrina lights about 3 weeks ago and almost instantly had the fungus gnat issue. I got the yellow sticky traps and they helped a BUNCH and I just got diatomaceous earth yesterday and sprinkled it on the soil of all the plants. We’ll have to see how it goes over the next few weeks. I hope to read some advice here too.

You’re probably over watering. But even if not, the best solution I have found is liquid mosquito bits. You put a couple drops in your watering vessel, dilute and then the liquid mosquito bits kills the larve.

  5. You can get some carnivorous plants to eat the living ones. It’s fascinating to watch.

  6. Fungus gnats will die if you spray the top layer of soil with a vegetable or olive oil every 2-3 days until you don’t see them anymore after watering. You can also use soap if you want to be extra sure to get them. They breathe through holes in their exoskeleton and if you cover those holes with oil/soap they die pretty much instantly.

Don’t use an antibacterial soap if you care about your soil microbiome. I used a little dawn mixed with veg oil in a spray bottle and took care of mine. They eventually came back bc I had some contaminated soil in a bag, but they’re easy enough to take care of that I’m not too mad about it.

You could also dissolve mosquito dunks in water and then use that to water your plants until they’re gone.

  7. Bonide systemic granules (not organic) or mosquito bits (organic).

Beneficial nematodes. They are microscopic organisms you add to the soil. Fungus gnats eat them, and then they explode.

Works better than pesticides etc. and you just let nature do its thing
