  1. The high tunnel looks like it’s starting to get full. I hope you are planning to put up at least one more. The Lord has plans to prosper you, and when He lays something on me, I have learned the hard way to obey Him with alacrity and enthusiasm. HE hasn’t told me to stop, yet. I’m praying that you receive showers of blessings that will replenish your groundwater and fill your ponds.

  2. I think if i planted any ground crop that wasnt an ice cube, it'd turn into 1.
We're zone 6b abt a mile or less away it goes to 7. We're in the southern part of Idaho & at 11 am its a whopping 36°f. I think it was about 21-28° at 6:30 this morning. I've got some potatoes in the ground, but it's covered by a put together hoop house that's roughly 20° warmer, maybe. I would like to put some onion's in the ground, just now doable. But i got a tomato plant (2) growing pretty good inside with 3 pear tomatoes already on it. It started growing outside in Octavia amongst the potatoes (not sure how it got there), but brought it in as we just got a frost then & it killed off some of the potato greenery that was protecting it. I'm processing some other tomatoes that grew outside & was doing good in the hoop house (livestock panel & plastic) until the temps got down to 21°
I need a heat source to grow anything this late in the year. 45 would be a heat wave for us .. only if there wasn't wind blowing too.
    Great tip on the onion's.

  3. Speaking of watering, we have one of those big plastic containers (the ones with a metal frame around it – don't know what it's called) but we have one mounted on a small trailer (that we call the "Water Wagon" 😂) that we can pull with a tractor. It has a small submersible pump from Harbor Freight in it that we hook to a hose to water our gardens with. I think it holds around 200 gal or so. It sure helps when your gardens are a ways from the well!

  4. My prediction is that you'll get onions!!! I like to side dress them with triple 13. When I first plant them, I water them in with miracle grow. That gives them food until they can reach out to the side-dressed fertilizer.

  5. Likely you know all this. ..
Might have to scout out Primary Water sites & design an air-water dehumidifying system if you're gonna be a desert. You & Spain. Olive & coconut trees next to go w/ your pineapple, banana, cane & citrus. Thank God for high tunnels & Vego. Accept the crazy weather trends. Beat it where you can. Pray for wisdom & direction of new growing times. The Father always offers alternatives. — xxoo. 💌🍒

  6. We had ordered our onions early. My onions looked just like that from Hoss. and no bulbs. Just pencil ends. We were very disappointed. I talked to their customer service and sent a picture of my onions with my information and I never heard back from them. We’ve planted them but I don’t expect much. Dixon Dale will be our next onion order.

  7. Great tips! That is a great idea to go ahead and separate the better quality from the lesser. I haven't ever planted this time of year in Oklahoma, but maybe I should. Can you give some advice on how to store onions long term after the harvest without a walk in cooler?

  8. I love your channel I love your garden on your last video I love seeing your wife cook it was so nice to see her cook I love watching her cooking

  9. I plant the tiny ones with my big ones. Most of them are about 4 inches across. I bought a sweet potato package from hoss. They were beautiful. Even though the potatoes at harvest time were beautiful my soil was extremely hard, breaking the potatoes as I dug them. I bottled them all because there was no saving them fresh. Last year I loosened the soil with pearlite. I will order from hoss this year

  10. Just opened my hoss onions and most of them are teeny. No slime, but a good bit of dirt and dried up leaves. Disappointing to say the least. I’m in Northeast Louisiana and the heat comes early here as well.

  11. I'm a little confused, aren't you coming in to winter? They will survive the freezes? I'm in 7b, in your opinion, when should I be preparing to do this?

  12. The onions I got from Dixondale last year were in horrible condition like that. I called and they replaced them but they were still some pretty bad ones in the replacements. I'm not sure what's going on.

  13. I ordered from Dixion Dale last year and I grew some big beautiful onions. This year I ordered from Hoss Tools and have not got them yet. Hope I hurry up and get mine.

  16. Dixondale onions where same last year. Ones from Hoss not much better going to try from seeds this year.

  17. I've had success letting a few of each variety onion bolt and go to seed, then plant the seeds the next year when I start my brassicas. Good luck with your cool season crops.

  18. I’ve got English peas in my hoop house should I take off the shade cloth? Thanks for all your videos and suggestions

  19. I ordered the Hoss brassica plugs. Unfortunately they took over a week to be delivered. They were very sad when they arrived. My problem was the heat. Perhaps yours hit a freeze? Either way it’s a bummer.

  20. My onions from Hoss looked the same. Slimy, muddy and smelled bad. We planted them all and they are starting to grow and green up now. The post office shipped them all over before they delivered them to me. Hoping for some good onions, last years onions were beautiful and so good. Good luck with yours.

  21. You and Wanda are such a blessing to watch. You are good stewards of the land. You care about the quality of your food. Thank you for the detailed videos and for teaching us. Bless you from north central ALabama.
