Gโ€™day folks, welcome back to another garden transformation.
So this job came through, and I went around to do a quote for some mowing out the front.
While I was there having a chat, I noticed that the backyard was in need of some dire attention.
As always, I sprang into action and offered to do a full makeover if the homeowner covered the tip fees.
As to be expected, she was stoked with the offer and asked me to proceed. She actually said that she just didn’t know where to start as it is such a large area, and she had let it overgrow and turn into a disaster. I said โ€œleave it up to us” and we got stuck in. There was lovely doggo living here as well, his name is Max.
All up, we spent around 10 hours on this job, including 3 trips top the landfill. This is episode 1 of 2.

FAQ’s:

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia ๐Ÿฆ˜.

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.

Q: Why don’t you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it’s because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn’t matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 – 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.

Q: Who/what is Jim’s Mowing?
A: Jim’s Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim’s Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn’t have music.

  1. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ I just covered my eyes and didnโ€™t peek until you were done with the roses! ๐Ÿซฃ

  2. Hey George, Thanks for the look at your beautiful day, it's been freezing here at night and very chilly days, I needed the sunshine view. Great job on the rose bush, pink roses are my fav. You and Steve-O are a hard working and efficient team. Looking forward to the back next week. ๐Ÿฅฐโค๐ŸŒนIt's a heat pump in my neck of the woods.

  3. Here in the states we keep the water heater tanks mostly in the garage, away from the outside elements. Itโ€™s different for sure seeing them outside there. Our heating and air systems reach every room in the house through air ducts, so the house is heated and cooled evenly. Great job and have a good day

  4. A fantastic job George and Steve and look forward to episode two. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

  5. This was crazy George! Omg!โ€ฆโ€ฆ. Very disappointed that I have to wait til next week for Part 2. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Youโ€™re right about the nasturtiums. I was so happy at first that you left some in that first garden, and just after I breathed a sigh of relief, out they came! Thankyou for the explanation, and for leaving some on the side fence. I could settle down thenโ€ฆ.. til you got up to the bit with the rosesโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve never seen a more beautiful rose bush! Stunner!!! But you did a great job pruning both of them, and the fushia definitely needed that treatment. Well done.
This property was a huge job, with so many nooks and crannies. I agree that keeping the hot water systems outside is very puzzling. We have that here (Brisbane) but Iโ€™d never seen that before I moved here. I did have a flash back to having a flooded laundry once, when a pipe connection blew, wading through very hot water. Makes sense to have them outside now. ย
I just Subscribed to your two new channels (Shorts and Shhh). Seems other people havenโ€™t been, looking at the numbers.

  6. Nasturtiums are the ugliest โ€œweedโ€ I know of. They should all be pulled out!! I know some like them, but they take over every other thing in the garden. The bottle brush will be thanking you for a much needed haircut!

  7. George, I observed that Steve-O is hauling all the heavy items. When he started, you alternated hauling and carrying. Now I see he does it all. I understand he is helping you, but please consider his age and height compared to you. I also saw that sometimes you would use the blower while he was there. He doesn't even wear a mask to protect him from the dust. He deserves more days off, too. I have been your subscriber for years now. I didn't mind that you made your assistants carry and haul because they were younger. Steve-O is your cousin-in-law. Maybe you should be more considerate. My heart goes to Steve-O.

  8. Hello ! Bye George ! Vous รฉtiez mon prรฉfรฉrรฉ. Et vous aidez Earth Trim Garden ! Qui a pris exemple sur vous, avant.

  9. Max is the boss then he's keeping an eye on you to make sure you do the job properly if you don't he might get very cross. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ค

  10. What a team, you and Steve-O! After losing some his a could years ago, I doubted you'd be adding anyone back in, but Steve-O is just the man for the job. Excellent clean up, and kudos for taking out the Fusha growing into the fence. Good call! Blessings from Washington State!๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’› Stacy

  11. Hi you two!! George, make sure that Steve-O protects his back from injuries from bending down so much. Iโ€™ve noticed that he picks up debris a lot and bends down too much for his age, so protect him a little more please!!! Safety first!

  12. You guys are amazing!
I love your humour & your logic too. ๐Ÿ˜…
    Your abilities are awesome too.
    Keep it up guys… ๐Ÿ˜€

  13. Hello, it's been raining for weeks. Over 8 inches of rain in the last few days. Raining cats and dogs. ๐Ÿ˜‰ So thank you for sharing your beautiful weather.

  14. I agree that the roses and other blooming flowers needed to be trimmed. You did a great job and kept most of the flowers while clearing the fence and pathway. Well done.

  15. Before I bought my current home the hot water cylinder was in the house, the previous owner was away for 3 months and came back to find that it had burst and the whole house was flooded ruining everything inside and had fungi growing everywhere! An almost total gut job.

  16. Oh, roses! You should have invited a florist from a flower shop. They could have made beautiful bouquets!

  17. When Steve wears gloves๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž now all you guys needโ€ฆ are knee pads!!!!

  18. Wonderful work you guys worked your butt off it looks tremendous๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

  19. Loved the transformation, as always! Can anyone tell me what that beautiful piece of music was at the end?

  20. Itโ€™s more like cleaning than yard work. But you did a tremendous job. Looks wonderful. Thank you for such talent

  21. Maybe you could explain why the fushia and rose bushes needed to be trimmed. Were they getting leggy? That happens to lilac bushes. Were they damaging the fence? Was the rose in a path? Just a suggestion.
