Great advice,tips. I wasn’t sure how well those sticky traps would work. I’m definitely going to buy some traps. Fork for loosening the soil works wonders for soil health. So far I have two cocktail tomato plants , pineapple, elephant ears growing. I love winter gardening. Thank you Kim for sharing your experience/knowledge.

The Tiny Tim tomatoes and sugar snap peas are a disappointment. You had said a harvest in 30-45 days? Planted 40 days ago and tomatoes are barely 1 inch tall. The peas have no blooms! If there is a secret, we need to know!
See, this was a difficult lesson for me to learn. If I have dead/yellow leaves – this does NOT mean I'm a bad gardener. It means that this is what happens in indoor gardens, and just work with it.

Hi Kim,
For fungus gnats, spread a layer of sand on top of the soil. The newly hatched gnats can't get out, and the ones flying about can't get into the soil to lay eggs. This breaks the cycle. No more problems with them. Vermiculite also works, but sand is cheaper.
