It’s very easy to make your own nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer. Here’s how:

Use two bucket of any size, the bottom bucket should be bigger or stackable. For the inside bucket, drill a few holes on the top side and bottom to allow drainage.

Use kitchen green waste such as banana peels, carrot or vegetable peels, a little citrus peel, tea, coffee grounds, and other green organic waste. Do not add any meat products.

You can cut the kitchen green waste into smaller pieces.

Put the bucket with the pre-drilled holes inside the bottom bucket.

Add the kitchen waste and enough water so that the green waste is fully immersed.

Cover the bucket with old pyjama or cloth to prevent insects and flies from getting inside to lay eggs.

After 3 days, harvest the nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer and water your vegetable plants. The plants will grow faster, bushier and produce more fruits.

You can add more kitchen green waste to the bucket and top up with water every 1 to 2 weeks.

After about 2 weeks, you can start this composting method all over again, as after about 2 weeks the semi-composed green materials will smell more and attract more insects and flies.

You can empty the semi-composed green materials into the garden bed by first dig a hole and buried them in it, it will decompose further and enrich your garden soil.

  1. I want tk start composting. Do you simply add fresh new waste on top of ild one or do you change for each batch meaning every 3 days and start a fresh? Thanks.

  2. Updates to this method:

During hot summer, get rid of the green waste after 1.5 weeks and restart with a new batch again.

The reason is, after 1.5 weeks in the hot summer, the green waste will start to smell. You can empty the green waste into the garden soil by digging a hole, covering it back up with soil, and it will become secondary compost for your garden.

This method is very fast, efficient, and easy to make nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer. Just remember not to add too much citrus peel, as it will be too acidic. just a little bit ok.

    Happy composting and gardening!
