I was raining here as well. I did some thrift shopping and went to the nursery for holiday greens for decorating. Fortunately there was a break in the weather just as the tide went low. So I put on my boots grabbed my clamming rake and basket. I dug almost a peck of clams and 3 dozen oysters. The clams will be prepared for the freezer and eventually become stuffed clams for Christmas and I will eat a few oysters , then bring the rest to my brother. I made it back home before the rain picked back up! Now back in the house all warm and cozy! Feeling blessed! ❤
Ben is too cool for school. He’s way too smart.
Ben would love learning a harmonica!!
Love the vlogs. One day I will be as good and natural as you on my vlogs. God bless your family
Love the new merch! I need a measure with your heart apron!
alot of rain. What kind of chicken feed you give them ?
Lovely winter day. Few days ago we had 42°C and I was melting. Yesterday was only 24 so I was back to normal. Today the predict 30. See how I go. Really I don't like winter but when it is too hot I wish it back. 😮Nothing good enough for me😅😊 Keep warm Jess and family.
I placed an order on Dec 1 and I don’t think it’s shipped yet. Do you know the shipping times?
Could you do a video or series of videos on home schooling? My little ones are reaching that age, and I am having analysis paralysis. How you balance everything with multiple kids curriculum, and everything else.
Thank you for adding black shirts!!
The variety of jewels you will be surrounded with because of the assortment of souls you have touched through sharing your lives and thoughts with us will be radiant!
We all feel as though you are one of our dearest friends even though you haven't met the majority of us. We have much to look forward to in Christ!!!❤❤❤
keep up the great work you and your family have opened the eyes of many
OH! Thank you! I love it when you give shooting and editing info!
Yay!!! So glad you are going back to homeschooling and making the most of your time with your children!!! Time goes too fast to send them off for 7-8 hours a day, five days of the week! We've got to cherish this time!!!❤❤❤
In describing Ben's learning, you described me. ❤ ETA: im 60 and i still cant whistle.
Thank y'all ! It stopped raining here in NC and it is very windy and already in the 30's.
We’ve had three days of continuous rain here in middle Georgia! Now the temperatures are dropping.
I am a hands on learner for most stuff.
Youtube videos have helped me a lot too.
Will Ben still be able to play baseball?
Absolutely grinning from ear to ear knowing you are not a sports-minded gal but hearing you say about Ben's focused learning him "going hard in the paint." You go, Ben…he drives, he shoots, he scooooooores! 😊
I was like Ben, a very smart kid but didn’t do well in a structured school environment. I would do great on tests but had a hard time focusing in class and wouldn’t do homework. I’d pass with a “C” and practically every teacher would tell my mom “she’s smart but lacks focus and daydreams in class”. I honestly think I would have excelled in a different environment but in the 80’s – early 90’s, school was what it was. You just had to deal. You’re doing right by your boys and their education.👍🏼
Yay! Finally! A Miah is my Homeboy t-shirt! I wish I could afford one in every color.
Y’all take such good care of your animals. Homeschooling is so good for your children. I homeschooled many years ago. Our youngest daughter homeschools her children now. It can fill a need that regular or private cannot fill. May the Lord bless y’all.❤️✝️🙏
I've got to get one of your shirts this time around. I let so many pass me by because I FORGET. Intend to order something. Then SQUIRREL! And it's gone. I'm going to fix that!! I love Real Food Comes Dirty!!
I love how our children all learn so differently. Wouldn't it be boring if they were all little carbon copies of us. Watching Fraya sneak up on your grain bucket when you weren't aware she was doing it was priceless. God bless you in this busy season.
How did the govt convince us that it's better for us and our children if they spend more time with them, in school for 13 years, (basically their whole childhood,) rather than us, teaching them what they deem to be necessary and important?
Not only did they mandate that our children spend more time with them, learning what they deem worthy for them to learn, they came up with property taxes as a way to pay for it and to ensure that our property is never really ours!!!!
That's about as deceiving as a Homeowner's Association convincing us to pay for other people to tell us what to do with our own property and charge us even more money if we don't comply!!! So basically, they own the land you have your home on and can kick you off if you don't comply with their rules!
How did we ever fall for any of this?!!! I guess Americans were too busy being entertained to know they were being scammed!!!😮😢
Are there any “Doctor Who” fans here? The barn doors at the 6:32–6:46 mark in the video resemble Cassandra from the episode “End of the World.” (The character who was nothing but skin, eyes and mouth – “Moisturize me!”)
It poured rain here in PA today as well. I think it was a very large storm.
I'm smiling so big right now thinking about my dad's whistle. He could belt so loudly that when it was dinnertime, he'd just stand on our front porch, whistle, and we could hear him inside any neighbor's house for blocks. As adults in our 50's, my siblings and I still talk about that aspect of our freedom to roam as children.
My 11 yr old nephew is a lot like Ben. He'd do well in a self-directed schooling environment, and he'd be in hog heaven with all there is to learn on your farm. I know you're all going to thrive in this next chapter!
Ben will be the child who takes over for you n miah. He is a farm boy at heart
Start planting more tree's along your fence lines to compensate for the losses. We need more trees to live full lives.
Most horses, given the choice, seem to prefer a deep run-in shed.
LOL! Miah is so funny! Love you two🙏🏻♥️
Happy homeschooling again! Very fun times!
Hi from Ireland, i also Home Ed my child who is now 14, he's a bit like Ben on the learning, if he want's to learn something he goes and does it and he won't stop until he has learned everything about it. Last Christmas he asked for a piano keyboard and i was not allowed to listen or look at him until he was ready, he called me in to listen and I'm thinking it's going to be twinkle twinkle little star but no he start's playing Beethoven's Fur Elise that he had learned in a weekend. They are like sponge's. Good luck with the Home Ed again.. Best wishes from Ireland
Wow Jess, you are sooooo good at describing things, what you mean and how it makes you feel. I so am there with you in those times. Love you to pieces girl!🙏🏻💚
I love your channel very much but what brought me here was your gardening and I’m saddened that I haven’t seen much of that lately. Understand that the season is ending but I’m really hoping you start your garden tours again soon.
We have 10 kids who we adopted who started out in regular school and all of them thrive much better at home. Less stress, less distractions, more openness when they struggle, it’s just easier and they learn way more this way.
🌸🌻
I just love this!!! It's made me smile at the end of my long day 🙂
You are fortunate to be able to home school your boys.
I love the reflection of the sky in the water standing on the ground at the beginning of the video as you walked out to the barn with Miah. Nothing is better than the sounds of farm animals and gentle rain ❤
hi Jess … do you folks sell your gray hat or can you let me know where you got it ? thanks !!!
If I had your space, I’d research the British hedgerows containing berry vine and such. A refuge for birds and small mammals with the added benefit of wind protection. Love your videos Jess. Keep up your amazing work. Thanks for sharing your life. ❤
I have my own grandson "Ben" that I'm homeschooling. That's not his name, but very similar in both personality and learning capabilities. He's very smart and sweet, but can't stay focused on the written word or teachers wa wa wa wa. Lots of lines on a paper shut.him.down. He's suffered debilitating migraines for years, but we've learned the signs that one will occur and have been able to get ahead of them most days. We often "unschool", which is just learning whatever he's compelled to on any given day. That may include gardening, cooking, inventorying the pantry, or building a Lego car. I try (some days it's hard!) to stay calm and steady with him, something his Mom can't do with 3 other kids in the house.
When Freya started running after you I started yelling at the screen!😂 Run Jess Run!😂
We homeschooled our four children and now they’re done. Our youngest graduated in 2019. I 3:59 am glad they are grown and able to make a life for themselves but I do miss it. ❤
If you’re looking to plant a wind break closer to the house you could consider a hedge of Saskatoon berry shrubs. There are different varieties but can get about 12’-16’ high, will flower in spring and the berries can be harvested for jam, pies, syrup or just fruit in baking. My in laws have a hedge of these on their acreage as a wind break cause we can get 80-100km wind gusts where we live in certain seasons of the year.
Yeah sometimes we feel less than
I’m very glad you decided to not build a new place. It seems that some You Tube homesteaders are wanting bigger and better. They left that life behind and are missing it maybe. No judgement here but I like your honest lifestyle. 😊
