My greenhouse has two roof ventilation windows with external hinges. This morning, I noticed a steady dripping of rain through the gaps in the hinges. I’m brainstorming for ways to block the rain but maintain the function of the window/hinge. Roof access is challenging but not impossible; idk if an inside modification would just collect water. Any suggestions? We’ve already DIYed the heck out of this cheap kit, so any idea (no matter how unorthodox) is welcome!

  1. Optimoprimo

You just lay a rubber flap over it. Mount it to the place where the base of the hinge is attached, and let it lay loose over the hinge to redirect the water.

  2. If it only opens 45⁰, can you put some kind of a cover over the hinge? Maybe attach it to the window frame so it moves with the window?

  3. Silicone/caulk around the hardware, or a rubber washer like another person said.

Also, swap those openers out for wax openers asap. At least one of them.
