1. Choose a location that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. Most plants thrive best in full sun.
2. Know your soil and test it if you need clarification on its fertility, pH, and potential contaminants. Amend as is necessary to make it favorable for your plants. Make your own nutrient dense compost from kitchen scraps and yard waste!
3. Choose hardy plants that perform well in your climate, disease-resistant varieties and plant types suitable for each season.
4. Be consistent about watering, but avoid over and underwatering. When the soil is dry, plants can’t absorb nutrients and can also be fatal to beneficial soil microbes.
5. Fertilize regularly or as needed, following the recommendations for each plant. Read the instructions on the package of your fertilizer.
6. Mulch to help retain moisture, moderate temperature, block weeds, and prevent soil erosion.
7. Observe the garden regularly for signs of nutrient deficiencies, insect pests, and disease.
8. Try companion planting to deter pests organically.
9. Prune plants to maintain and encourage healthy growth. Keeping your tools clean will prevent the spread of diseases.
10. Start small and expand later and grow what you and your family like to eat. Gardening can be overwhelming; you can always add more plants each season.

😍 kaibigan teacher
Feeding the soil is my main struggle, followed by my tendency to overplant. I never know quite when or how, or how often, to fertilize things once they're in the ground and actively growing.
Fun!!! 🎉
What a place 😊

Motivation 😂
What is the green worm and what’s its damage? I found one when I pulled up one of my collard plants.
