  2. I’m no expert but I take out the branches growing inward or any that want to cross another branch. I also topped my Meyer lemon and it has bushed out better than it looked before.

  3. I totally agree on the iron, and nutrition in general. I have a neighbor with lemon trees (here in Idaho) and one day I suggested to him that he lacked iron. So, he let me treat the trees. 30 days later there is new growth and everything is looking up! I have another neighbor who is a fruit tree farmer, and has taught us all how to prune. But, not so sure on the citrus trees!

  4. I still remember when you planted those lemon trees in a small pots im going to drink lemonade🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

  5. I’m in Australia and my lemon tree went off when I put 4 terracotta pots with flowers around the base which keeps the soil moist and of course I fertilise with a chicken manure slow release pellets

  6. Very interesting. I have yet to try lemon trees, I have gotten a half a growing zone warmer with our new property, so we are in 6B to 7A and of course a lemon tree will have to be in a greenhouse environment in order to grow here. I definitely am ready to get one started as soon as my walipini is done! 😊 Good to know about the iron as I have no knowledge with citrus!!!

  7. I know nothing about pruning on lemon trees, but I am going to try out this iron on my citrus. We just brought all of our plants indoors, but we repotted the lemon this year.

  8. I won't be growing lemon trees outside in the 6" of snow and 23 F degree temperatures in MIchigan, so I can't help you with pruning tips. But I was wondering if you think that we should be putting Dr. Iron to amend all non-in ground beds, such as raised beds and grow bags at the time of planting since nutrients are washed out and used up more quickly in them?

  9. I have some indoor potted Meyer lemon trees, and this was very helpful for me. I’ve yet to get any fruit after 3 to 4 years, so maybe this will help. 🤷🏽‍♀️

  10. Hm… Iron…. interesting never even heard of it thanks! Just ordered it too. Your lemons look extra awesome 🔥

  11. Charles Malki fruit tree expert and owner of IV Organics has some good videos on pruning citrus which need the least amount of pruning of all trees. However, like someone else mentioned, you don't want criss-crossing branches or branches growing too close to each other. You want to thin the interior so air and sun can get in. Definitely get rid of suckers if any are growing at the base of the tree and get rid of watersprouts that might be growing straight up towards the sky. Also it is a good idea to paint the trunk of the tree with special latex paint or with the herbal formula from IVOrganics…and even the branches… if they get a lot of sun to protect from sunburn, pests nd diseases. Of course wait until after they have finished fruiting or better yet, until the winter to do the majority of pruning (no more than 20% of the tree for citrus).

Other good fruit tree resources are Stephan Sobkowiak and Susan Poizner's "Orchard People" podcast and on-line courses which are approved for continuing education credits for licensed arborists.

  12. I live in Zone 7b and growing meyer lemon plant in a container. For the first 3 years they didnt yield fruits. But the last 2 years have been productive. Yielded about 10 fruits last 2 years. I was thinking of changing to a bigger container with citrus tone fertilizer supplement to the existing soil. Should I go with that or your suggestion (compost, warm castings and iron) or citrus tone? Also, my plant doesnt have lot of brunches like yours. Is there anything I should be doing for that? Guess pruning! Thanks for the advice!
