Happy Sunday 😊 🚪 💛💛💛💛🍒🥬🍓🍆🧄🥦🍉
Heyyy Asia gurl you've been getting these videos out and I love it Happy Sunday 🥦🫑🫛
🪱🏡☺️
Maybe you should rinse the worm container in case there are worm eggs in it.
I am sure you have said it before but can you expalin what you mean by overwintering your plants?? I love the water catchment system idea.❤❤
So exciting to see you so excited. Another great teaching video.
If any of your neighbors have pumpkins they used for decor, ask if you can have them to feed your worms. It’s one of their favorites! They also love cucumbers so plant some next spring. If you freeze your veggie scraps, the cell walls will break down making it decompose faster for the worms. The frozen foods will release a lot of liquid so once your worm bins are established you won’t have to water as much since the castings hold so much moisture. You don’t want so much liquid that you need to use the spout. It should be like a wrung out sponge. Also, worms love fallen leaves as their bedding. Collect those as well!
I love the worm bins I have always wanted to do a worm farm I always buy worm casting so I really need to start. Great video you are going the things 👍🏽😊. Hope friend is better now🎈
Hi Asia please listen to this YouTube video for your son’s ….Best Food for Migraines Dr. Neal Barnard on migraines this info ℹ️ might help ❤
Also, collect your egg shells and dry them out ( I wash, collect a bunch and put them in a low oven for a bit to dry them) and pulverize them onto a powder. Sprinkle that on top of your worm food when you feed. Worms use the egg shells as grit to digest their food.
very interesting video
i buy woem casting
i love the sweat shirt i am making rosemary oil
Use that worm tea you poured out. Get a empty milk jug and save it…
worm teaisnt that the run off stuff
Wow, you are doing such a great job. Thanks for sharing all you do.
Great information, hon 😊
I’m learning so much. You are truly becoming a homesteader. Thanks for sharing
Another info packed vid, Thank you !! Btw I read , or heard somewhere years ago that worms don't like citrus "pulp", pith and peel, is fine..😂 Probably why it's the only thing you have left
Hi Asia please, please do a step by step video of putting in your water catchment system. I really want to do that in the spring as well, but I’m not sure about how it’s done. Especially if you’re using pumps and filters. Thank you!
Here's another vermicomposting guy who has been very helpful for me. https://www.youtube.com/c/VermicompostLearnbyDoing. Almost all of my junk mail goes in my worm bins for bedding. I have a 12 sheet cross cut shredder and it will handle some cardboard, but mostly it's paper. I add more bedding every time I feed (about 50/50 food and bedding) The dry bedding in the bottom bins will get damp over time, eventually you harvest the top bin, the next bin comes up to be the top feeding bin, your old feeding bin gets filled with bedding and goes on the bottom. I have also used coconut coir for bedding. If it starts to smell bad, (something I personally have not had happen), add more dry carbon material, just like with your compost. Your worms will travel between bins, even if you aren't actively feeding the other bins, they eat the bedding as well. Also, worms need grit, just like your chickens do. Ground up eggshell works great. And you can feed your worms any expired pantry supplies, like cornmeal or whole wheat flour. My worms don't seem to really like citrus peels or onions, but they will eventually break those down as well. Good luck with the worm bin, you'll get it figured out, and soon you'll be harvesting buckets of castings.
I was thinking. It seems to me that the fluid from those worm bins would be beneficial for fertilizer and worth collecting for future use. I know nothing about worm bins but it would be like worm castings "tea" maybe. Just a thought. 🤗
I ordered more Comfrey roots from the link you shared.I want to use what's in my own garden to fertilize my garden and yard.I ordered six more roots, which will go in my large grow bags. The other six I planted in the ground. Thank you for sharing that link ❤❤❤
Asia have you raked up your leaves and put them in the chicken run? Your chickens will break them down way faster then trying to compost them for a year…you can collect bags from friends who don't use pesticides, who would normally sit them out for the trash… It might take 3-6 months to break down . After that you can shovel out what you need when you need it…I'm doing this , this year so I won't have to buy so many bags of compost next year. I'm collecting as many carts full of leaves as I can , and I'm not gone lie I might snatch 5-6 bags from somebody's sidewalk 😂
Side note:
I will be making a huge work bin from my old 10 cubic freezer that don't work anymore. I will sit it on a couple cinder blocks so I can slide a bucket or cement try under it to catch the leche….. I'm not playing when it comes to spending less money next year on compost and fertilizer.
❤👍🏾
Asia how did you get the greenhouse to stay in place without flying away? I just bought this worm bin from vevor and love it!
How are going to keep them warm for the winter
Thank you for sharing
Isn't the worm compost "juice" or "tea" a really good natural liquid fertilizer? NGL…I gasped when you tossed it on the floor lol🤭 I'm more of a house plant person but I love watching you because it's SO outside my wheelhous, I learn something every episode.🤗
Anywho…I swear I saw someone use the tea/juice on their indoor plants but I imagine it's great for an outdoor garden too…?🤔🤷🏽♀️
Its only a problem if they group together on the lid in clumps and try to escape. If its too dry, too wet and I guess if it becomes anaerobic? Just replacing the problem with new bedding should be fine. I don't know why some of them like hanging out on the lid but they do 🙂
I’m glad you’re showing this in detail. I don’t like worms, but I know I need them & they’re beneficial, the just creep me out!!! I may eventually get one, but I wanna see how the casting process works. Thx 4 sharing Asia & Happy gardening everyone!!!!
Great video Asia! I’m really enjoying and benefiting from watching your daily posting. You are a good instructor. You’ve convinced me (with your clear instructions, commentary, and the reference you shared) to give worm composting further thought. Sometimes people don’t get a chance to figure out in life what makes them happy, but it looks like you have. 💙
