MIgardener: Our 14 Acre Fence Build Led to a SHOCKING Discovery!
In the first installment of our farm, build saga, we are building a 14 acre fence, constructing a road, digging a pond, and lastly, making a wild discovery.
You may want to treat the fence posts with used engine oil. My uncle put up a fence & painted the posts with old oil, & it looked as good 30 some years later when he sold the place. Seems the bugs hate the old oil, & it preserves it from the weather, Just a thought…
I agree straight lines are boring 3 years ago we started looking at property some with home some with not but what we really found was a lot areas property lines were not true what are the properties we had done had a barn that was about 10 ft over the property line we also looked at one that ended up the main road went through the property so you really really need your property surveyed. The property is going to look fantastic when you're all done.
Hi Luke, can't wait to see the orchard. Love the plan with the winding drive, pole barn, and other elements. So much progress so fast! Will have to make a plan to come visit when you're ready!
I’m intrigued by how the wire along the fence works. I’m in New Zealand and our deer fences are always built just as high as yours but with a mesh style wire, with vertical and horizontal wire spaced about 30cm / 1 foot apart.
How about a 4 foot wide ditch using the dug out soil as a hill beside the ditch, opposite the original fence instead of a smaller fence, easier to fill in later instead of pulling up posts. Will also act as a spring run off collector and a water source in summer, maybe.
This video greatly needed stabilztion! It was especially difficult to watch when you were walking. I'm eager to follow your journey, please invest in your equipment.

That warning or caution signs are a joke when talking law. No trapressing signs all over will help protect you from lawsuits.
They say deer have problems visualizing in 3d which is part of why the short fence or wire in front works.
I love watching your excitement! You're like a kid in a candy shop. It will be fun to watch your progress!!😅❤
What a wonderful surprise!
woohoo bonus land!! yeehaw!
Just 4 of those acres would be dream for me. Suburban sprawl has become my nightmare. I’m so happy for you.

So, the extra land just add the additional land of the next purchase and do more fencing later
Luke, your glowing!!
Love it!! One tiny suggestion, is there a way you can put a stabilizer on the camera when walking? It gets a little woozy sometimes :).
I would suggest you rent or borrow a tractor with an auger. It will go quicker and you won't hurt your arms and shoulders.
Build you a house back there.
SO the video about the First Start product for speeding up compost seems to be working really really well! Thank ¥øu
Yay!
Fence poles are too short once in the ground, but will help some, better than nothing.
So exciting!!!
Time to get out your metal detector!

Maybe you could do a field of flowers to sell at the seed store.
Kale is definitely animal fodder!😆🤣😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
