Powdered eggshells provide grit to a worms digestive system. Earthworms store grit in their gizzard, and it also assists in producing worms castings. Worm casting provide organic fertilizer for the garden.

Yes, I find even the simplest things in the garden fascinating when you consider the grand scheme of it all. For some not to have a clue what the job of the soil biology is doing is a disservice to themselves. Without these checks and balances we as humans would cease to exist. Who, what or how do trees that are vital for our survival feed themselves?…. Yes I think it’s amazing what God put in place because he knew that we would be so consumed with ourselves that left to our own vices, we would destroy it all. 🙏🏽
Works great of your plants need it, but if they're already good on the nutrient, leaving them as while egg shells will cause the breakdown to show and feed your plants much longer.
Just from the way this man talks, I automatically completely trust him on all subjects.
Earthworms means dirt good
Next 34 yrs?!!!!
Oh yeah! 💪
I collect the eggs shells and put them in the oven for about 20 min then grind and mix in a bowl with water and a cup of vinegar before pouring directly over my garden or adding to compost. The vinegar makes the calcium and phosphorus more soluble
Thank you 🙏
Coffee helps bring nutrition
Great hack
Should I do that and put it in my potted plants
Awesome! I’ll have to start doing that
Game! 🔥
Use a facemask. You don’t want to breath in powder of any kind
I love this page
I just told someone about eggshells…and they had never heard of it 😮
Limestone soil calcium galore
I’m starting my first garden, and have a bunch of eggshells I was going to crunch up in my compost. I didn’t know this☝🏽!
Thank you for the lesson!

I just grinned my saved egg shells a couple days ago for my house pants and outside hydrangeas. 😉
Holy smokes good tip! I usually feed them to my chicken's
Anybody ever tell you you sound very similar to the preacher from The Wire?
Grinding up the shells is great for a much more expedient soil ammendment, while crushing em into shards is slower to break them down for the soil they can effectively repel slugs in the mean time.
Personally id go with ground/powdered shells mixed into the soil, and crush up maybe 3-4 shells to scatter around the base of each plant (especially if slugs are an issue in your garden) with a side benefit of slow nutrient release.
Apparently baking the shells in the oven helps them break down a bit more rapidly for better uptake as well.
For my compost piles i try to blend most of my large scraps and eggshells to emulsify it for the worms, they seem to like what im doing. Last time i turned my piles there had to have easily been about 1k worms doong their thing. The patch pf clay prior to setting up my pallet composters was ultimately devoid of worms.
