I use oil-based Ready Patch for most exterior wood fill. Spraying a few seconds of Bloxygen into the can will keep it from drying while in storage. My woodworking Design Plans: https://jonpeters.com/design-plans/

  1. If you ever find yourself using JB Weld Herculiner roll on bedliner and have some left over that you want to save, be sure to spray some argon in that can too. I found out the hard way it will harden in the can if oxygen is present. 3/4 of a $115 gallon cured in the can after about a week

  2. That’s a good idea! Personally, I like to add a layer of plastic over the cans that I might not use as much, before sealing the lids.

  3. Where are you that this can cost 30 dollars? I work in a paint store and sell it everyday and its no more than 16

  4. I think ready patch is the only premixed patch that I've ever successfully used in my 45 years in construction repairs..

  5. Simply pour water on top on the product before you seal the lid
It will never degrade nor will it allow it to dry out

  6. I grew up with Durham’s water putty….universally use it, it’s toneable, drys in 15 minutes, sands easy, can never go bad as it’s a powder, mix it thick or thin, is rather inexpensive, interior or exterior been around for over 80 years…available most anywhere….can’t say enough good things about it…

  7. That bloxogen looks pretty kool. But $30 a can when u could get a 40lb cylinder for $50 from any welding supply makes it a gimmick product for me. Also its a 1 trick pony ur not hooking that little can up to ur mig.

  8. Never tried oil based filler, i usually use bondo brand wood filler or jb weld brands wood filler both non shrinking, love it, dries and sandable in 15 minutes hard as a rock, never cracks…

  9. We use oxygen displacement like that in the meat business too. Not just like that lol but same principle
