Heyyyy lovelies, welcome back to my channel and another home vlog. This week we are getting our teeth stuck in to organising the garage, tidying the garden and getting on top of the clutter. We are nearly 8 weeks in our new home and absolutely loving it. Still tonnes to do and honestly will most likely take us years but in today’s video

If you are interested in checking out my art channel head on over to @ClairesCraftyCorner

Details of our move:

We sold our 3 bedroom terraced house ( lots of houses stuck together in a row ) small garden, no garage post-war concrete house in Essex for £370,000

We bought our 3 / 4 bedroom semi detached ( attached to only one house ) 1950’s brick built house with converted loft, garage and huge garden in Northamptonshire for £290,000

it took 10 weeks – from accepting the offer on our home – to moving out.

10 weeks is FAST for England.

  1. I literally live in the woods, the squirrels are the vein of my existence!! We had so many this spring and then the foxes and coyotes moved in for a couple months and squirrel population is manageable again!

  2. I think the squirrels will go along the branch and down the twine but we will see! You have done remarkable getting your house and craft room where it is so soon😊

  3. I am so jealous of your weather…. It’s 87 degrees (30 celsius)…. 😒 Now that you have a new love of raking, feel free to visit, we have an entire acre to rake and clean out all the trees and branches after Milton… lol Like you said about one box at a time, we’re using that logic for the trees… 😂 I’m probably one of the few people who like and feed the squirrels…. I’m in the minority, my husband is not a squirrel lover… lol The kitchen vibe was so cozy, totally get it… Love to George!!🥰😘

  4. Hi Claire. Suggestion. If you’re not going to use the garage for a car. You could add a small extension to the front, with a door & window & leave the garage door open?
Also, I’m with you on the gas. You could get a carbon monoxide alarm, like a smoke alarm, for peace of mind.

  5. Claire search "squirrel assault course". The ingenuity of squirrels appears to know no bounds. Because you are on the edge of a wooded area you're just going to have to put up with the squirrels. Some of the "squirrel proof feeders" may work in the short term. I'm editing to add "on Youtube" for the squirrel vids.

  6. Claire invest in a leaf blower ,i no longer have to rake and you can also get a blower that sucks up the leaves for you to place in the garden waste bin xxreally enjoying your videos on your new house ,glad you are getting straight .dont over do it ….says me with the patience of a dead gnatt😂❤❤

  7. We have so many squirrels they got into the house. The red squirrels are very damaging. You can put oil on the string or wax so that the squirrels can't hang on if they do get that far.

  8. Well, Claire. I got the astonish rose …. it's so nice . I'm addicted , you made me do it.
unfortunately here it cost 6.99 per bottle + 9 bucks delivery 😮 flipping expensive , I'd say. can't get my brother to fly over with it monthly😂😂😂 so I'm using it sparingly
Your new house is coming together very nicely, looking good and fab ideas for new and future projects..
    ❤❤❤ 🐶

  9. Your mushrooms looks like a field mushroom. Which is edible. If it was slightly yellow I would say wood mushroom. Also, edible.
The field mushroom has deep, pink gills, that turn dark brown as it matures. A white cap that can be discoloured brown. Was once very common, now harder to find due to agricultural chemicals and habitat loss. As implied by its name, grows in fields and meadows, as well as broad-leaved mixed woodland.
The closest toxic mushroom that looks like that is a destroying angel but their gills are white and stay white.

  10. I’m the same as you. I won’t cook with gas. It scares me. Why not get shot of the garage door and replace it with the door you actually want. No chopping bricks with a bread knife that way. Simples 😂. You are clearly in your element up north. I’m so happy for you x

  11. I would say lightly Decorate the fireplace just to have a little happiness 💜 but I wouldn't go crazy since it so close to Halloween and you are already so busy 🥰

  12. You're making the house your own. That's wonderful. Yep, crying again just hearing you talk about "A Man Name Otto". Great movie. Yes, do your fireplace. You'll be glad you did. Interesting that your washer and dryer are in the kitchen. Is that common in your neck of the woods? LOL Ooooo, what are you making? Excited to see your resin project on the other channel. Take care, sweetie. xoxoxooxoxoxo

  13. Oh my god Claire, I was feeling so down and I thought watch Claire. You never disappoint, I was laughing in 5 minutes.😊

  14. Wow – spooky – 74 year old house – ours is 78 this year! But also – June last year, I went in for an ablation – after years and years of the worst symptoms, and it took forever to find a surgeon to take me seriously – but came out with a hysterectomy and extensive endo lesion removals. I had been diagnosed with severe, progressive and diffuse adenomyosis (nothing small and simple for this chick), she said it was one of the largest and worst cases she had seen, and once there she also found endo everywhere. Yet years of reporting indescribable pain for 3 out of 4 weeks of your life – since the surgery I have been a completely different person. I know I wont be in horrific pain – amazing. My body is still playing catch up, I still have severe iron deficiency, and have infusions every 3 months – but decades of all that – takes a huge toll on your body. So when you try to do catch up – your body will either tell you or punish you for doing too much. GO with what your body tells you. Im with you 100% hon!

  15. So enjoyed this Vlog Claire ❤ Your home is coming along great. Beautiful garden you have. I absolutely love the shed in the back. Wow!! That would be a fantastic workshop for your woodturning. George is so adorable ❤ I have a rain barrel also and just love the water from it for my flower planters. So looking forward to seeing your next Vlog. Take great care ❤❤❤

  16. Make sure your fur baby (George?) doesn't eat any mushrooms either. Toxic for him also. Love your view. My view from my craft room is a cow pasture!😂 thanks for sharing your beautiful home and yard.

  17. Gees Claire even my house here in Australia is 102 years old, though I question that, it’s old for our standards but I’d have thought less than that. It’s not like an old English house, it’s an old Australian cottage. You’re getting there girl. 🥰

  18. I love all your videos your an amazing lady we just got moved into our new place this weekend my kitchen and part of my bedroom is done now its the scary part my livingroom and trying to make a craft corner lol

  19. I grew up with all gas appliances, perfectly safe. Gas stoves are the best to cook on. Beautiful garden for you and George! Best of luck with those squirrels, they are very clever and athletic!

  20. Squirrels are hilarious and proper thieves you can try to out smart them but they will find a way you just have to accept them but you can buy bird feeders that do stop them being able to get to the seed but if they hungry enough they just emotybit and pour it on the floor, they will become more tame as time goes on xx

  21. as long as you don´t eat mushrooms you don´t know your fine, you don´t need to disinfect your hands, lol, your house is getting along nicely, one step at a time, you get there

  22. Haha those squirrels will work out how to get to those feeders – they’re so clever. If they can solve an assault course, your jump won’t keep them stumped for long
The magpies will work it out too

  23. YES! Decorate your fireplace, please!
Glad you're over that awful hump of "where-the-$!/&@¢?-am-I-going-to-put-everything?" part of a house move! I haaate that part! It feels so great to get past that.
How I wish we could replace our two bathrooms! Most older American baths are no bigger than the UK ones, not at all. They're closets! They didn't start getting larger until the 80s, for most new homes.
Those lifting garage doors are called "bay doors". 😊 Yes, a side door is absolutely necessary for any garage!

RE: DORMANT TREES. Pull that leaf mulch BACK away from the trunk UNTIL the tree is fully dormant! If mulch is too thick/heavy it can prevent a tree from going dormant! Then, if it's pruned during Winter, it can get Winter-kill.
    Sure hope you see this!

  24. That movie was sooo good. But the book!!! A Man Called Ove is sooo much better. Fredrik Backman is such a great author. He's really funny too. He's my favourite author.
