Monty plants a rose against a shady wall, checks on the progress of his supermarket garlic that he’s growing in a container as an experiment, and plants out two other types of garlic to overwinter outdoors.

Adam Frost visits a plantsman’s paradise at Fullers Mill in Suffolk as the autumn colour emerges. And at Brodsworth Hall in Doncaster, Advolly Richmond delves into the fascinating history of Britain’s enduring love affair with houseplants.

There’s a doctor in Devon so convinced by the healing power of plants that she now prescribes gardening to her patients in a garden she’s created. Plus a visit to a couple with a true passion for passion flowers.

  1. I couldn't understand why Monty would take one rose out from against the wall, then replace it with another! I have both those roses, and they are both beautiful. Wollerton O H is an Austin rose, it has beautiful cupped soft apricot blooms that smell of myrrh – an all together unusual fragrance. That was part of the reason I bought it – and I have no regrets. A highly recommended rose. Thanks for uploading 🙂
