Plans to ban smoking outside pubs are reportedly being dropped after opposition from the hospitality industry.

Proposals leaked earlier this year suggested the Government would ban smoking in some outdoor areas, such as at restaurants and hospitals, to improve public health.

Founder of the Together Declaration Alan Miller joins Talk’s Alex Phillips to discuss this further.

  1. 🚬🚬🚬🍻🍻🍻🧱 if the government want to do something useful regarding pubs and bars and restaurants they should make it a policy not to allow drug addicts in these facilities and also bar children in America you will not allowed to touch alcohol until you are 21 or even vote why can't the British government learn something by that

  2. What is wrong with Dogs in pubs? Our Lab loves pub and fuss he gets. Of course not in Centre of London, but in quieter pubs?

  8. He replaced that with banning disposable vapes next June
A lot of people use vapes to give up smoking I gave up in July after 30 years of smoking and I vapes to stopped the reusable vapes cost more money and are a nightmare to use the disposable are easier as an adult I feel penalised because kids get hold of them
They should not ban them but fine anyone buying them so selling them to kids
Alcohol and cigarettes you have to be 18 to buy the same as vapes

  9. Alex watch you all the time and a big fan but dont agree about dogs in pubs. I would rather have a well behaved dog than misbehaving children in a pub. when I was a child i wasn't allowed in a pub. Keep up the good work though.

  10. A game of darts or cards , meeting mates , a pint and a smoke , Saturday nights with family and friends , now part of British History. I'm saddened at what's happened to our liberty and working people's culture !

  11. Why doesn't Starmer deal with the real issues we're faced with instead of trying to control our every movement

  12. Thank god that bonfire of a bad idea was snubbed out. Yeah ok I'm an ex smoker but still I vape.

I want banned dogs from pubs. Restaurants yes. however I would prefer it if it was annoying little children and babies being band instead.

Now Labour needs to drop that dreadful no winter fuel for pensioners idea. Stopping the illegal migrants coming into the country and they might have a miniscule chance of redeeming themselves maybe (no promises) 😒.

  13. There is more pollution and deadly pollution coming out of vehicles in the air, 24 seven every day and night. And the government is worried about people smoking in pub gardens. Joke

  14. Starmer looks like a Thunderbird puppet and has all the charm , personality, compassion and charisma of one 😅😅😅😅😅.only real difference is a Thunderbird puppet would be better for the UK .

  15. Though inevitably non smokers do still have to breathe the smoke that blows over to the pub entry and exit and all around the pub garden in summer 🤢🤮
