  1. Hey gardeners, thanks so much for watching! How did your gardens hold up during Hurricane Milton? I’d love to hear your experiences—drop a comment and let us know how you’re doing. Hoping everyone is safe and your plants are bouncing back!

  2. Your prior video on prepping for the storm helped me get ready. The eye was about 10 miles south, but most of my garden survived thanks to your tips.

  3. What is the variegated plant at 2:15? I’m still cleaning up from Milton. It’s a process. Tomorrow I stake trees back up again.

  4. Venice, FL The plumbagos have lost all their leaves, should I trim them down? Also the copper leaves plant is all brown. Will it regrow? Thank you. You are my inspiration!!!

  5. Thanks for video and helping us through this! So glad you and your family are okay! Sure you will get garden looking awesome in no time – your yard is absolutely gorgeous!

We had 5 feet surge and some water got in our pool and a little in the garage. So we were really lucky since they were predicfing 8 to 12 ft surge. Thank you Jesus!!

I have been working on garden for a year or so (with inspiration from your videos – true gardener!!!) Unfortunately, the surge appears it may have killed several different copperleafs, sanchezia, red cloak, picabeen palms and sloppy painter. All leaves are brown or black. And ixoras, key lime , meyers lemon, red button ginger and firespikes have damage from wind.

Guessing any that were damaged from surge are not savable but assuming I can just trim back the ones damaged by wind. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

  6. True gardener – we got wind like I e never seen before – was told it was over 100mph here in central Florida. On you advice in the prep video, I laid everything down – even short ones – and I do t think I lost anything. It will take days to cleanup all the debris from the oak and sweet gum trees, but the plants did pretty good. We lost half of our porch roof and the carport relocated itself after doing a series of jumping jacks. I felt and heard the rumbling of a nearby tornado, but praise God it didn’t come this far down the street. The crape Myrtle trees have lost most of their leaves. But we were so blessed and protected. Even my 2 hummingbirds survived. So thankful. And thankful that you all survived well.

  7. Your preparation really paid off! Milton was my first hurricane, experienced from my new home in Sarasota just a few miles inland from Siesta Key. Scary stuff, but we are fine. Off topic, but are the gorgeous green plants at about the 2:45 mark a pure green variety of cordyline? If so, I think I need some! Thanks for the video.

  8. Thank you for sharing. Here in Boquete, Panama we don’t get hurricanes, but serious rain and we have a windy season. Looking at your garden I have @ better idea of water to under plant around my Bismarck palm. Stay safe.

  9. So sad to hear about all the devastation that is happening with the hurricanes and tornadoes but praying for everyone’s safety.

  10. Good morning true gardener. We’re in North Port, FL and by the grace of God our home was spared from damage. We planted 15 palms and a bird of paradise last August and even though we were in Michigan and unable to stake anything down we only had a few fronds break off. Heading to the store to get pesticide and fertilizer for my babies now ā¤ prayers for all those affected

  11. Tropical storms and hurricanes is the cost to live in our subtropical paradise. Praying for those who have suffered from Hurricane Milton. These storms sometimes make us question if living in Florida is worth it. I, for one, believe it is worth the price. For every day of a storm, there are perhaps thirty other days of living the dream.

  12. HOLA, from Spring Hill. Just had a 20 ft queen palm that leaned over towards my pool cage, but I was able to put it back in place and holding it in place with 3 2×4's for support around it for next time. Is it a good idea to trim off most of the palm leaves before a hurricane hits?

  13. Glad you stayed safe and your gardens did very well! We went through the eye here and it was rough and the garden is tore up with not much left to keep but on to the next planting!

  14. Glad you and your garden made it through Milton ! Your videos on Storm prep and after the storm are greatly appreciated !

  15. Jennifer I’m so glad you’re ok. This video is just in time for me and the encouragement I needed. I live near Bradenton and Milton really tore up 3 bottle brush trees that are planted at the back of my house. I’m guessing they are original to the house and possibly 20 years old. They were beautiful. The back of the trees are intact but a lot of the front was broken and damaged. At first I was thinking we will need to cut them down but now I’m wondering if they may flush back out. Your yard is certainly an inspiration to us all.

  16. Thankful you guys personally ok, we can always replace plants. So nice to see how the plants weathered the storm. Yes it’s amazing how tough tropical plants can be but they were designed to it as where some live it’s routine to see high winds

  17. This is off topic but do you do any landscaping with crepe myrtles? I just moved to southwest Florida from TN and I had some huge beautiful crepes and would like to use them again here in my new landscape but just don’t see anyone using them around here.
