  1. You are killing as many good insects as bad insects and advising many people to do the same. Let the birds take care of the cucumber beetles. I know you have to a pristine garden but why don’t you try to have a good pollinator garden. I do know the cucumber beetles are a real problem for the Dalia’s but next year may be different. Neem oil is just are dangerously as any insecticide

  2. The seed pod story is so funny. I believe Mexican petunia seeds explode similarly to this, also. I've had to remove a few zinnias due to powdery mildew, but my dahlias are coming into their own right now; they haven't looked as good all season. We had our first frost at 33 degrees last night here in N MS, but no plants seem to have suffered damage–frost was apparently confined to rooftops and windshields.

  3. I think I would see how the redbud does over the next year or so. Small caliper trees are easy to remove usually. I'm letting several redbud seedlings develop because of the age of my old redbuds. They are beginning to get messy with dropping (what seems like) too many small limbs/twigs. My redbuds signal to me new beginnings, hope for the new season…and sunny days ahead!😊 They sure make the spring glorious with those first blooms popping out from all the redbuds, my beautiful and finally very productive plum, the new nectarine, then the Crabtree. along with the spring blooming shrubs and bulbs.. SPRING ☘️🌷 Time to get back in the garden beds again ❤. Love all your videos. Thank you Linda and Stewart

  4. I have red buds pop up all over won’t be just one ! I say in that spot go. Look around bet u have baby’s some were else . Your yard is getting so full , looks good .

  5. What a delight this entire episode was! I'm in the leave-that-baby-redbud-volunteer! camp. If it doesn't work out, no harm. And I so enjoyed the wisteria pod shenanigans! So fun!

  6. Linda, did you know you can overwinter geraniums in a paper bag with no pot? There's a Garden Gate Magazine YouTube video that can tell you how. I'm in zone 7 and have done it for several years. Some survive, some don't, but it's always fun to see the ones that make it come back to life!

  7. I saw you garden journal in the very most chic nursery in Salt Lake City : Cactus and Tropicals! I took a picture immediately!

  8. I find it so satisfying to do fall clean up and see empty space again . Empty space to dream what I can plant next year!

  9. 😂😅 did Linda say, "little turd," 😅she did. Sophisticated, well-read, worldly, Linda said turd. This and many more reasons are why I just love Linda😊 Thanks for the laugh.

  10. In keeping with your “Nature is wondrous” comment, I would keep the redbud volunteer where it is. That’s where nature wanted it after all. Let’s see how it goes. I cracked up at the seed pod story! I’m sure John will get a kick out of it!

  11. Sweet pea pods do the same thing! Scared me half to death one night! I thought a small animal had gotten in the house! 😂

  12. I agree with you on the dahlia to cut it back and leave it in the ground. I also agree that the redbud seedling will give you a better idea if you want it there by leaving it til spring. As for the geraniums and begonias, I would overwinter them in the greenhouse. I prefer established plants vs getting new plants to grow as I want them. All the best to you, Stewart and your family!

  13. I think some support and nurturing would be good for the red bud volunteer! Time will tell if it will be damaging to the foundation.

  14. Hi Linda…love your videos…my husband has a robust vocabulary but yours is a marvel. Thanks for your creativity and garden knowledge.

  15. Oh my gosh… keep that 🌳tree…you can always transplant somewhere else🪴
By the way….hearing your lovely ❤ church bells in the background

  16. Very much enjoyed this video and you got me to look up all the new perennials I put in my garden this year to verify how to prep them for winter. I bring my geranium and begonias into my garage and allow them to go dormant. I place geraniums in one black landscape bucket with soil and begonias in another. Fantastic story about the wisteria!!!! Nature 🌿💗🍂 Thank you!

  17. Loved your scary story’s. Re redbud, I’ve had it happen. .I kept it for a while then had to take it down.. I do have one volunteer which is protecting my bird feeder. The birds love it as a perch so I’ve left that one for awhile.
