Happy gardening! What do you think i should plant??? I'm planning on Zucchini, Cherry Tomatoes, Banana Capsicum, and of course some flowers and radishes sprinkled in between. Maybe some cucumbers….if I can find some shade
Their soil is perfect. All my wicking beds have the Vege mix. I am in Perth hills. I have planted four varieties of tomatoes, pumpkin, cucumber, lettuces all cos so I can cut fresh daily, red capsicum, beans, strawberries, echinacea spinach and pyrethrum. Yesterday I pulled out four huge beetroots. Basically I plant what I eat.
Fellow Perth vegie gardener here, also using raised beds. Could you please tell us more info regarding your watering system? Thanks
Also in Perth and I've planted 2 different zucchini, cucumber, 3 different tomatoes (plus the 2 that self-seeded), tromboncino, cucuzza, 3 different pumpkins, and in my small raised beds spinach, carrot, snow peas, beetroot and pollinator flowers. Today i might do another round of beetroot and add some lettuce and radish (maybe a kohl rabi or 2) to the spots i have left.
Love this time of year!
Hello happy Sunday! Perfect timing for a break. Oh the flies Holly. One those struggles and you won! Hard work getting through pile of soil! My pile is woodchips for potatoes and kumara. I better get back to it. Thanks for taking us on the journey🌻
Looks great!❤
Oooohhh kohl rabi seeds..I need2 grow some!
Its always hard to redo gardens but needs to be done.cant wait to see the result
Check your nitrogen levels with veggie organic mixes had some issues in the past only small adjustments needed
Hey Holly! Solarization to kill weed seeds is new to me, perhaps you can do a future video on this as part of a composting video. Question from the cheap seats…Why do you wear black in the heat? Wouldn't white be a better choice? For my new raised beds, I start from scratch with logs which over time will break down but in the meantime act like sponges. Do you put mulch on top? I use Sugar Cane Mulch unless I have an acid loving plant e.g. Blueberries for which I use pine needles. How thoughtful of you to leave a phone for your birds in the birdhouse 😉 Home saved seeds are the best! Love your work! Cheers!
Why not just "chop 'n' drop" n top up with ya bought soil… plenty of valuable nutrients you just threw in the green waste…. why!?!?!?
Holy shit that's a huge rock to be gardening with on a finger!!🤣 I can't wear anything from my elbows to mi nails when i'm in mi garden…
That's a good tip about only needing 30cm in rased beds
Really happy for a new video 🎉🎉
I use their veggie mix in my raised beds, love it. Also many of their other soil products.
Nice job Holly. I'm overdue for a full reset of my raised beds but I just can't force myself to pull out plants that are still producing. 😊
I just added an inch of compost and pulled out all the brassicas that have gone to seed to make room for Summer plants.
I'm growing tomatoes, capsicum, chili, zucchini, eggplant, and some new chard, plus lettuce, radish, and carrots that I grow year-round. (Melbourne)
Cheers!
Holly, you did not mentioned why are you not adding mulch on top of your soil though said you have a different strategy? If you were to mulch your garden beds, what will you use for raised beds and fruit trees?
Looks great !
I'll be interested to hear how you go with the pigeon pea Holly, this is my first year of trying to grow that (in Perth too).
