  1. So interesting to know what they look for in judging. Well done on second place for your onions. I love Kate’s comment on what to grow. Lots of things 😂

  2. Loved this video. You’ve inspired me to have a go at our local A&P show here in NZ this year.
    Eli, the global influencer. 🧅

  3. Great video, so interesting to hear what the judges are looking for. And well done again on your prize! We went to our local horticultural show last weekend, some of the entries were unreal, especially the dahlias 😍, I was sooooo impressed! But I was a bit disappointed they don't just make the entrants stand behind their stuff the entire time, so I could tell them how amazing they were and ask them all the hundreds of questions I had! 🤣 Seriously, how DO they grow such massive leeks, do they put them in some kind of weird restraint to keep them so straight as they get bigger??? The mind boggles! 🤔🤣

  5. What a brilliant video ! And congratulations on getting a second rosette . Beautiful onions ! What variety were these please Eli ? 🧅🧅🧅

  6. Congratulations on your 2nd place! What a great experience. Here in the states, we have county fairs where people enter vegetables, canned goods, pies, flowers, crafts, animals and many other things. I enjoy going and seeing what my community has been working on. I've had some lovely sunflowers this year, that's what I would enter.

  7. Congrats on your 2nd 🎉. I have entered at 2 local Horticulture shows for quite a few years. I decided to try a 3rd one this year. I totally agree with you that they need support. 🇨🇦 I mainly enter flowers, but tried my hand at rhubarb and peppers this year.

  8. I entered my first show on 31st August. A few flowers from garden and the odd thing from the allotment. Ended up winning the 1 veg 1 flower novice class for my carrot and orange dahlia. 😂
It was good fun to take part.

  9. That was awesome! Thanks to Colin for taking the time to talk to you. Super valuable information!

Why did Kate have a tiny Sled in the backpack?

  10. Enjoyed that Eli. Nice to have an insight into the judging. I have a very old guide book. No horticultural show here this year tho, due to organiser illness, but I LOVED it last year. Lots of fun.

  11. Hi from Idaho! Your wee niece is so impressed that you're a YouTuber, it's now the coolest thing she can think of, and she's quite a fan of your channel ❤

  12. Your strangled (😂) onions looked fabulous! Well done on your placing. ❤

I agree… TOTALLY addictive. Admit it, you’ve bought some Kelsae seeds haven’t you? 😂🙌🏼🙌🏼

Really interesting hearing the explanations of why ones we’d have thought should be placed higher weren’t.. especially the courgettes!

  13. I entered the agricultural show with my jam, but you can enter everything from rhubarb to relish! It's another way to show what you're growing or the produce of what you have grown. I came away with second and was absolutely delighted. It is great fun and really addictive.

  14. Hi Eli & Kate, 😂😂😂 whipping onions, thats a very funny term. Well done! In getting second place ❤ really interesting & enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
