Thanks for sharing! I've been trying to decide what to plant besides kale andgarlic (and here's my 👍 as yt won't let me click the 👍)
I got my new greenhouse frame up….all that's left is to put on the plastic ❤ Got my garlic in a couple days ago. Now you have me wanting to put pots in my greenhouse for greens 🤣🤣🤣🤦
This is very helpful! Especially since our first frost half the time isn’t until December. Though sometimes November 😮
I just planted spinach and radishes! I will harvest sprouts if that's all I get
I’ve already had a “light frost” here in my area of southern Michigan. Burrr……winter is coming
I'll have to reference this next year as we've already had our first frost (and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at least). I haven't planted my garlic yet though! 😅
Thank you for thinking of me, who hasn’t given up yet! Definitely going to add some kale and garlic around my lettuce, arugula, and pak choy patch. No cilantro sprouts at all so I wonder if I forgot to sow the seeds 😂
Kale is awesome in that it is cold tolerant and heat tolerant. It just thrives. Long as you keep the slugs at bay. Lol
Thank you for reminding me to get my garlic in the ground. Im planting back the biggest ones from last year. Hopefully keep getting bigger and better.
Love a fall garden!
We will have freezing temps Monday in WI at about same latitude. You have lake heat which might protect you a bit. We will pull out plastic today to cover tunnels of fall crops. This last Monday we had 33F and I expect 27 degrees Monday. Hopefully it will be the hour before sunrise and it will warm up into next week again. We need Rain.
Our weather has been too warm the last 2 years that I’m delaying garlic as long as possible because I don’t want them 7” up before ground freezes. I mulched heavy last year and in spring pull it off for a bit to let them grow and put a bit of mulch back on. Too much growth burns them out for spring and by doing what I did resulted in large bulbs.
Had frost already.😢
Any advice for keeping bugs from eating my lacinato kale? I used Sluggo Plus, but it didn't help.
No no no!! Garlic was $4.98 a bulb at the grocery store last week.
Sad to say, eastern PA, we had a frost today!
Got my garlic planted a couple days ago. In the process of building a hoop cover for a variety of greens. We'll see how cold it gets after this very hot summer and early fall!
We had our first frost and beyond this week after advisories. I placed a few plants into the greenhouse and brought in my sweet pepper plants to over winter. I purchased some deck garden boxes this week and will use one for a winter garden under the grow light. I started arugula and lettuce in seed trays and will add to the indoor winter garden. The other half will remain in the greenhouse which is one of those cheap ones, but is still running at 80-90 degrees for now. I stuck a space heater in there.
What do you call frost? We usually get to 32ish around end of Oct. But we have already gotten down to 38 so lots of the summer crops got fried. I see the really cold is going to be here a couple weeks eary.
I planted almost every type you mentioned 🎉hope to get better harvest this winter
We're expecting 37° next week down here in middle TN! (And planting out stuff anyway.)
Thanks for the video, Luke! This inspired me to clear out some beds and try direct sowing (for a fourth time) some of my late fall plantings. I've had bad luck this fall with weather, but things are looking great right now for temps!
I was given to understand that 'soft' neck was planted in the Spring and 'hard' neck was planted after the first front.
Is it too late for beets, carrots, turnips?
What zone do you live in? I'm zone 7 in North Arkansas. If I plant these veggies, will it work?
We had our first frost in central PA this morning.
How?? 30 days? We had ours last night. Im only in PA.
