Hurricane Milton is going to go directly over Orlando Florida where I am located. This video is a candid chat about my thoughts on Hurricane Milton, what I am doing to prepare my garden, and my families evacuation plans. People are saying hurricane Milton is going to be the worst hurricane to hit Florida ever. I hope and pray this is wrong. I have prepared my garden as much as I can and my heart and prayers go out to all my fellow Floridians. Stay strong & stay safe Florida.

  1. I am in Orlando as well. I am sad for my garden too, but I know that I can start over. It's more important to keep your family safe. Most of my family lives here, so we're staying. Prayers out to everyone in the storm's path

  2. This one is going to be really bad. People ask why don't people evacuate the state. Well, they can't. We live in Southeast Texas and to evacuate our area, which has 250,000 people total, it takes 3 days. Pray that you stay safe.

  3. We're in Pinellas County. My poor garden. Just yesterday, while I was working in the yard, the Amazon delivery guy told me how beautiful our yard was. A week after cleaning up after Helene, best case scenario, it's going to be an utter mess by Thursday.

  4. I know all about evacuating. The traffic is unreal, much less trying to get a hotel room! So glad you decided to leave! We will be checking in with you!

  5. I am in orlando ,,,sad for my plants but WORSE FOR THE BUGS😢😢😢 my butterflies and bees are already at minimal 😢😢😢😢 the birds are migrating so would be bad for them too 😢😢😢😢😢😢

  6. I’m in Daytona and also looking at my tomato plants flowering, green peppers little babies, baby cucumbers, broccoli, brussel sprouts, collars and Kajari melons. All flowing with babies. It’s so sad. But then I think of the strawberry fields in plant city and other commercial growers who will lose everything. So for me i have back ups growing under grow lights so maybe there is hope yet. Stay safe Jerra. See you on the flip side.❤

  7. Melbourne here, Fl native too, hoping you and your family stay safe! Just keep hoping it shifts ugh, but I worry about friends and family all over the state too.

  8. Hoping everyone stays safe! I live in DeLand, we cleaned up our garden today and did our best. I dont have a tpost to stabilize my 4ft Barbados cherry. Stores will be crazy. Ive been thru bad ones. Andrew, Charlie. We lost our roof a 2018. We keep moving forward.

  9. My daughter is 6. When she finally realized what was going on, she cried. I ask her if she was afraid. She said no, I’m crying for our garden and ask me to put everything in pots and bring it in. It was a Kodak moment. We live in Kissimmee and wish we could leave too. 🙏

  10. From Pensacola, FL. Be safe y'all. The good news is that the Panhandle should remain largely unscathed, So if that as far north as you can get, y'all are welcome here.

  11. Jerra, I would be more than happy to return (give) seeds that I bought from you this year and haven’t been able to plant yet. I know you would rather preserve your privacy, so, if you have a P.O. box, please let me know after the storm and I’ll connect with you through your store. I believe some of the ones I bought from were almost sold out. I want to see you be able to continue what you are doing without hindrance. I get so much out of everything you teach. You are a valuable Florida treasure. Praying for you and your garden and home.

  12. I'm a native Floridian too, Jenna. I'm 60. Please be safe. Hurricane Charlie made landfall in Punta Gorda, FL. My hubby went through it. It destroyed so much and took good 5 years before we stopped seeing blue roofs that Fema put up. I'm down below y'all a couple hours. Below Sarasota. Helene caused my home or land no damage and no flooding, but Fort Myers Beach flooded again. They are still reeling from Hurricane Ian, 2 yrs ago.

I decided in May that I wasn't going to stress myself during the heat, rain, and hurricanes. But I put a bunch of Asparagus plants in 18 gallon totes. The ferns are so tall and pretty and I don't know what to do. I got them as crowns so this is my 1st year of growing them. So it says I'm not supposed to harvest this 1st year and I haven't.

Do you think maybe the Asparagus should bounce back if the ferns get beat to hell and back? I have no clue what month Asparagus goes "dormant" in our zone 10.

Jenna, I'm very grateful you could leave this time. I'm having to stay. I'm thinking we'll be fine….but those are sometimes famous last words, right? I'm sorry for what is about to try to trash your beautiful and bountiful bounty. Hugs!

  13. I live in a small town 30-40 minutes from the SWFL beaches, we are just now fully recovering from 2022's Hurricane Ian. Here south of Fort Myers we are starting to really strengthen our local preparations for these storms ever since. I mean with a storm that absolutely ripped most bay homes off the foundation and made commercial areas due for an entire remodel… I bet we'll be more ready for now on.

  14. With the rare tomatoes, would you be able to propagate one of the branches and bring it inside? as a back up. I had to do this once with my tomatoes, it regrew roots & i ended up replanting it!

  15. New Smyrna Beach here and and a fan to your shop:)
I am scared for all of us.

I wish we could have left, but we work with insurance companies, and we have been flooded with work, so we are staying.. hoping n praying all goes well.

  16. Hi Jerra, I was thinking about you earlier this week and how beautiful your garden looked in your last video. You made the right decision to leave. I’m over here in Pinellas county but I can’t leave because of my animals. I’m in a non flood zone in Seminole, so I’m not worried about water so much as the wind. This storm is going to be scary! I haven’t even put out anything in the garden yet, I haven’t a sunroom full of transplants ready to go but we keep getting hit. So I’m just focusing on cleaning up what I can out there and hope everything is still there when it’s over. I expect power will be out for awhile after, so I guess that will give me time to plant out the garden then 🤣 I think the temps are at least going to be nice after. Trying to look on the bright side. But praying for your home and garden/business, I know how hard you work for it. Definitely please do a video after so we know how you are doing. #floridastrong

  17. I thought about you straight away when I heard about the Florida hurricane threat. I do hope you and everyone else remain safe. I know that's the main thing but to care about the garden and know it's going to be ravaged is tough. As we know many have had it worse. Much worse. But that doesn't really take the distress down too many notches.

  18. Central floridian here too. I was wondering if i should harvest cayenne since they are still green?
Wishing you and yours the best during these hard times.
