About this video: In this video I show you how I get a ton of free plants in my garden by simply dividing plants I already own! This is a beginner friendly How to guide on dividing perennials. I hope this video encourages you grow your gardens by using plants you already have. This process rejuvenates your plants to encourage more growth and blooming, and stretches your gardening budget! I find one of the easiest way to cut through the root ball of many perennials is with using a Hori Hori. Check out the Vego Garden Hori Hori I just received in this video. So many cool features on this garden multi use tool. Thanks for watching – Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b). #gardening #garden #plants #landscape #vegogarden #sustainabilityyourway ‪ @vego_garden @Coastofmaine

  2. Great video! I love dividing plants, especially ground covers. Always nice to pass some along to friends and family to help them fill their garden. 💚

  3. Hi Steph. Thank you for the info about dividing plants. Love the idea of dividing right out of the nursery container. The Hori Hori looks like a great garden tool! I always appreciate your thoughtful insights. 💕🌱

  4. Hi Steph, I have been looking for a low growing blue spruce but haven't been able to find anything less than 15" x 10" (at. 10 years). How big does that cultivar get? Wouldn't a blue star juniper or Picea pungens 'Glauca Globosa' Blue Globe Colorado Spruce be more appropriate? I am not being critical, but if your specimen stays dwarf, I am very interested. Thank you for all your great content.

  5. Thanks for showing dividing perennials. I have a white Veronica that needs to be devided badly.

  6. I need to divide a lot of lambs-ear too. I love it, but it’s quite aggressive in my garden. This hori-hori looks like it would do a great job!

  7. Hi Steph! Thanks for sharing all your gardening tips, I love watching your videos! Keep up the great work! 🤞🏽 for the hori hori knife 😊

  8. Great video. This is a great time to divide perennials to create new gardens, extend the garden or to share with friends! I appreciate the video.

  9. It’s surprising how many garden channels I’ve watched and you were the first one to talk about diving plants right from the nursery. I want to give a big thank you from all the gardeners out there who fall in love with a plant and didn’t know its potential to create more to fill a garden.

  10. Thank you for some great tips. I'm going to try dividing some hostas that just didn't look as lush this season as they usually do. Hopefully that will revive them! I love the idea of dividing nursery purchases. Such a cost savings!

  11. I would absolutely love the Vego Garden Hori Hori ! I have many perennials I need to divide. I love that it has the hexagon cutouts for nuts and bolts. How clever! Thank you for the information and the offer!

  12. Wow, I'm also in MA. I'm looking for some conifers for the yard & may check out Tolland Garden this weekend. Ty!
