We’re bringing you to the idyllic island of Nantucket for a look inside interior designer Kristin Paton’s beautifully restored 1700s home.

Five sea captains and their families have called the shingled cottage home over the last two hundred years… and as its new steward, Kristin was determined to celebrate its longstanding heritage. Her thoughtful redesign honors the home’s rich maritime history with repurposed materials, a stunning whaling mural wrapping the central chimney, and campaign-style decor that nods to the home’s seafaring roots. Enjoy!

  1. What a beautiful historic home. She did a fabulous job with the design and I love her style. 😊

  2. A very tasteful home. Very inspiring. It has to do with the choice of materials and colour palette, with keeping and matching the old.
I love the beams, the wood and the wonkiness that give such character.
The Gettisburg Gray looks like a good choice of colour.
And I agree that the touches of darker wood are beautiful.

I love all the art – with lights – and the "togetherputting" of everything.

  3. Wow! 3 years for approval on preserving the foundation. What a joke. They’d be OK with the home falling in on itself though. I did a new build in Cali. $50K in fees. Nice.

  4. Un trabajo extraordinario en una casa histórica y valiosa. Un estilo propio que se aleja de lo obvio de una casa de verano. Me gustó como recuperaron elementos antiguos dándoles un nuevo uso.

  5. The table reserved for doing puzzles….💙🩵💙🩵
And, the master bedroom and bathroom….relaxing and divine.

  6. I could listen to her all day. Her motivation and discipline are so inspiring! I want to finish designing my shower backsplash wall now. The enveloping wood, rattan, muted paint tones, that Schumacher stairwell mural… sigh… All the accessories are so rich, so elegant, and yet so comforting. ❤❤❤

  7. Classic American east coast. Fabulous home. Respecting the history and blending the modern. Genius decorating! Thank you so much for sharing the process. Beautiful home! 😊🏡💜

  8. Gorgeous home and wow, this homeowner did the work to get it there! Very impressive and so wonderful that she stopped to acknowledge her children's art. Very well done.

  9. Such a striking home and cannot imagine the gut-wrenching 3 year long renovation that they endured. This home and the it's owners are the perfect match and glad they both found each other. Also, love this designer's style and vision, she leaned into the history so hard but it's not a nautical spectacle or ostentatious. How many times is the word maritime used? 😉

  10. I love her style. It’s great to see a well curated home with a mix of antiques and contemporary pieces as well as family photos and pieces that have been with the family for decades. It looks like a family really lives there – but it’s gorgeously designed top to bottom, inside and out. So nice that it’s clearly a coastal home in an area with a strong maritime tradition, but it’s not jammed full of blue and white and cliche “nautical” decor. I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s also refreshing that she doesn’t care what’s “in” and uses what she loves…bravo.

  11. Kristin's website does not have a shop and I really want to purchase the candle in the Shalimar scent. Is there any way to buy it?

  12. Absolutely amazing!!!! Love Nantucket. Love this home. I too, have watched many of the Homeworthy tours and this one is by far my favorite. The home owner narrates with such ease. Most people go on and on about nothing and have such poor voice quality. Not to be negative. Would love to see more of her work.

  13. How wonderful that this historic home was so lovingly restored. I love the way she honors her husband by sharing his thoughtful gifts to her over the years.

  14. I visited Nantucket twice, once in 1976, and then in 2023. New money has ruined that island. It’s all about the Joneses.

  15. Absolutely love her home and sense of style. That kitchen was a surprise- really nice with built-ins and really roomy in size. Nice that she kept the the history in mind throughout all the remodeling. My 1 tiny critique is that the home needs a bit more brightness and is made a little depressing by all the dark greyish colors so prevalent.
    Lovely host and classic home.

  16. Nantucket is my favorite vacation spot. It's so beautiful! I too fell in love with the Nantucket baskets and their history. You've done an amazing transformation to your home. I love how you've decorated it. You have exquisite taste.
