Every morning I remind myself that synchronicity is doing and equal to healing which is for mind body emotions spiritual. Abracadabra comes from the Aramaic words aabra Kadabra and means I will create as I speak. We Thrive. We take care because of Love. And so do you . . .
Thank you ❤ Very helpful 😊 I’m always feeling slightly vulnerable as a single parent because I’m doing it all. Like I don’t want to deal with generators unless they’re solar and I won’t be using a chainsaw etc. I’m super interested in washing clothes outside with a ringer, how best to transport water from lakes, CERT training, water filters, the butane cooking thing, mold cleanup etc Took notes through all your videos ❤ Ignore the haters! 🙏 Hope you all can get some rest and that things stay safe as time passes! Praying for you! 😊
I appreciate you both so much. Today you gave such valuable, thought-provoking information.
Jess, I would love to pray with you. I resonate with every word you are saying. We were reasonably well prepared and faired better than so many and I feel like I am dealing with survivors guilt, for lack of better words. Please keep sharing with people what preparedness can look like. There are so many words I’d like to say to you.
Hi Jess and Miah. Bev here from Oklahoma. I am a one person family. I have been storing food for a long time. I know I need to think about water (I do have Berkey, other water filters) but I do live in a residential neighborhood. In Broken Arrow where I live, I am very close to a stream (water) but that would also mean carrying that water back to my house. I am 64 yo. Sometimes you get to the point that you just have to realize that you are no longer able to do the things you were able to do when you are younger. I have weapons. I would use those weapons if needed but I would rather not. I have decided if worse comes to worse, I would move out in the country to my BIL to be able to have some stability. If not, I will stay here and go down with the ship. Love you
When I was 2 we were hit by Hurricane Andrew, which wound up making a hard turn and coming straight at South Florida after the window closed for most to prep. My mom still has no idea why, but my dad, who worked with the NHC through NOAA, was the only one putting up plywood shutters. We were also one of the only houses in our neighborhood to sustain minimal damage. I am absolutely heartbroken seeing the footage and photos of what’s going on. Sending all of the love and strength down south rn 😢❤
We live in “safe” Upstate NY 😉 However, in 2003, there was a grid-down issue with power outages for three days. My family in Michigan, and much of the Midwest, were out of power for many days! In 2006 we experienced a record flood here! In 2011, we experienced another record flood! (There was also one in 1971ish, all 100 year floods). We had a restaurant from 2000 on and lost ALL of our food because of power outages, each time!
I wised up, after the 2011 experience, and started getting prepared. NOTHING has happened since and my husband and family scoff at my efforts, but also tell me they know where to come 😉. ( I had a closet full of toilet paper by 2020!) BTW, having water stored is great! Getting rid of waste water, especially in town, is a nightmare! If the sewer lines are out of commission, you’re in trouble!
That said, read One Second After, by Willian Forstchen – forward by Newt Gingrich! And stock up on coffee! You never know!
One thing I've started doing is canning water. Instead of leaving my empty jars sitting in my pantry/storage, I put them to use. I save used lids to utilize for this purpose. It may never get me very far, but its an added sense of security.
Love you two! Thank you for being so real.
I love your channel I have learned so much from you. I also watch Off Grid with Doug and Stacy. They live off grid for 16 years now, they grow their own food, drink rainwater and so much more. A lot of questions that you have they gave done videos on. They made their own log cabin, made an outdoor kitchen, a root cellar etc. Stacy washes their clothes too. You should check them out.
Resilience… read the definition … says it all, everything u said Jess is right on, as my Pastor would say, God didnt take u this far for nought…
Oh, to see the longer time frame is like a special treat, especially with such a pertinent and timely topics. Prayers and blessings for all who were in the path of the storm, lost loved ones and property and are still struggling. I would love to see more content on preparedness, and hearkening back to what how people lived in the past without all these modern conveniences and comforts. We need to strengthen our muscles on that.
Coffee is vital for us too! I do have instant coffee in my emergency stash and we have can cook on propane outside. But that is definitely something I thought of.
I’m so sorry, that video of Justin’s was before the hurricane. I lived through many of them as a young girl from toddler on to young adult many harder than others and this one looked rough. I will continue to pray.
For comfort…
If you have ibcs with rain water…and a small pool put up somewhere and kept clean, you can have a sit down, soaking bath. I'd you have a black hard plastic pond liner , you can get the sun t9 heat that water pretty quickly.
For small amounts of drinking water, you can put a rock or marble in a ziploc bag, and zip it closed over the end of a tree branch. As the tree sweats, condensation builds up and you get clean water, already filtered by the tree, you can do as many of these as you want, and after huge rain events, I assume the trees would sweat a lot, just like after a summer rain . If in the sun, it should get warmer and sweat faster. I know you have filters, but in case you or someone didn't.
Remember that mobile homes and some modular homes can be 20 degrees warmer than the temp outside. The metal roof makes it heat up like a solar oven. Try to have a shady area outside to spend the hottest part of the day
Having a hard time getting my husband on board. You guys are in tune
"Wanna run a chain saw with a headache?" 😂 Well said!❤
Is setting up a solar/battery system a possibility? I can't recall if you've discussed that before?
The Rhodes video made me cry.
This is the MOST important video you have ever done. It should be shown to every single person who can see this. I commend you for doing this video. And your compassion for your fellow communities is extraordinary. Thank YOU and your husband
Very helpful
I would love to know from you what is a proper first aid kit for homesteaders.
Love to you and your precious family❤ Thank you for all you share. I am so happy you all are safe.
I have missed this type of contact from you on this type of prepping & look forward to some content on this so happy you are all safe & well from an inspired gardener & prepper thanks for keeping making content through these tough times xx
I have truly appreciated these conversations through this. It's helping me compile a list of things we haven't fully thought through for what things could potentially happen in our area. Thecamper is a good fall back, but that would be assuming the camper is usable after the storm. I love how the Lord prepared your hearts and farm ahead of time for this crisis to hit.
look into a gas or propane powered fridge. i think they make some that can switch between electric and propane
I am so sorry. In Jesus name. I am in tears for all of you. This government has to change.
Not sure if you have mentioned the importance of installing solar panels? Would you also consider having a mounted stand of extra fuel stored on your property? Gas appliances are wonderful, but some require electricity to fire up. I have a gas cook top and a gas clothes drier….they are wonderful.
It’s hard to be prepared for what some of these people have experienced. Yes it is good to be prepared but when you watch your house float away there is no prep for that
Exactly prepping is not crazy. It's simply being prepared for what life might throw at you. Blessings
The Big C in 2020 and the supply chain issues afterward SHOULD have been theeeeeeee wake up call for everyone. It was for me. I have extra cases of water, extra propane, extra food, never let my car gas tank go below half, bought oil lamps & oil, have several Camp Chef items for cooking outside, have a butane hot plate for inside and other prep items. Not prepared for every emergency but I can get by. Unfortunately there are way more folks that don't have a clue about what's really going on around them and the need to do some kind of prepping.
We had 3 days without water. I learned to wash myself with bottled water.😊
"To build a life not easily shaken" I wrote this down. Thank you! New subscriber here and already gaining so much from what you share. Your videos are filling up my "watch later" list 📝 🤓 🍅
Hurricanes have a mind of their own, and like to change paths at the last second.
Hey Jess…friend of mine doesn't like the term "prepper" either. He calls people like us "preparedness minded people"! PMP's, lol! 😘😘
